20 gauge on deer

Check the ballistics charts. The 20 is more than capable of taking deer or moose for that matter out too 150 yards, much less recoil is a bonus. When slug gun technology first broke on the seen I was sold on 12 ga 3" sabots.

After realizing 3 in slugs hurt when practicing and no fun I dropped back too 2 3/4s. A 20 guage is perhaps perfect for what you describe.

I have shot a few deer with a model 12 in 20 gauge with the old style pumpkin ball slugs. I've killed deer out to 75 yards with that shotgun. I've never tried shooting any farther than that. I imagine a 20 gauge with sabots would be very good.

I shot one with a ball slug at 100 yards out of my 20 and it crushed him. It was one of my most memorable shots remembering the impact and the reaction of the deer

i have shot lots of deer with the 16 g slugs so the 20 should be no problem . i like carrying the smaller g shotgun just for the weight DUTCH

i am just getting into the world of slugs. done a lot of searching. 20g and 12g have plenty of power out to 200yrds for clean and humane deer kills. they main hurdel in the slug world is accuracy, the technolgy behind todays modern sabots is caused this type of hunting to move ahead in leaps and bounds. if you can get 2" goups at 100yrds youll be laughing all the way to 200yrds with about a 6"group. a fully rifled barrel is a must.

Guys in some of the shotgun zones here in Alberta kill moose and elk with 20's and sabots. Know the firearms limitations, put slug through lungs, collect your prize.
