20 guage grouse gun

20 ga shotgun

I have a CIL 20 gauge break action, it works really well. I have a sleeve that is on the stock that can hold 5 shells in it, plus i keep some in my pocket. I have shot birds before and like the other guy said they ususally stay close to the flock. Shooting squirrels and racoons is pretty good too.

I got really frustrated using a .22 (with iron sights) as well. I've had lots of luck with my Cooey 840 410.

I have used a 20ga. Remington 870 for over 20 years and find it a great gun for partridge. Since I shoot the majority of my birds on the wing over my English Springer spaniel, I use the 24" deer barrel for maximum spread. Also works great on woodcocks. Doesn't hurt the barrel one bit and it still drives slugs like a tac. Once they get out 20 yards however..BIG trouble reaching them. When that situation occurs, I stick on the 28" mod and go get them. I use it with 71/2 shot or trap load for max. pellets. Doesn't take much to bring down a grouse and once he is down, old reliable will find him and bring him back.
