I finished sizing some .223 brass over to 20 tac and think I have found the ultimate brass for this. I have been using Remington and Winchester brass before but was getting wrinkles and some ruined shoulders due to creases even after annealing. I had a few Privi Partisan cases sitting around that I had shot over the weekend so I figured I would see how they form up. Privi anneals their .223 before loading at the factory so I skipped the annealing step and went straight to neck sizing before I bump the shoulder back and change it to 30 deg. The first couple went so well I thought I would try it without neck sizing first. I ran about 30 through the full length size die and all of them came down and the shoulders set back and I never got a wrinkle in any case. Privi will now be my go to brass for my 20 tac until we get some more Lapua up here from Dakota.

I'm a 20 VT shooter and was getting some wrinkles in the shoulder/neck area when necking down the 221 fireball brass - I was using too much lube, since cutting back I don't think I've had any wrinkles (and that's with the oh so fantastic remington brass). If you're necking down 223 brass, you could just get some Lapua 223 brass.
Thanks for the tip but I have tried different amounts of lube down to no lube and even just powdered graphite but still was getting wrinkles on the new shoulder forming (the Win. brass is the worst). Lapua makes actual 20 tac brass for Dakota but there is not any around right now.

I haven't had the Vartarg all of that long so I haven't been able to get out to a gopher patch yet (main reason I got it), but so far so good. But like most of the 20's, almost zero recoil, I've been getting around 3600 fps with the 32 gr bullets (some of the forum's I've been on have stated over 3700.....I just haven't made it there yet). The fireball brass was easy enough to form, other than some wrinkled shoulders and a couple of split necks - I'm in the process right now of make some brass for it out of Lapua 222 brass. Will hopefully get out again soon and see if I can get close to the 0.5 MOA accuracy guarantee that Cooper makes (in my case I'm sure the shooter is part of the problem).
