20 vs 28 vs .410

The correct answer always is and always will be 16ga.

There will always be that guy who weighs into the conversation , LoL.
I have humped an 870 up and down Mt. Maxwell on SaltSpring Island a few times (when I was young) ground sluiced chickens with a 410 or popped them from the branches.
The 870 28 gauge was just to light for my hands and the 1100 20 gauge modified choke has found its place in camp and on the stalk for those crazy chickens who have been educated by hunters before me.
I have not really given the Charles Daley SXS in 20 much time, but it looks promising.
Good Hunting and better Hunting in 2021.

I’ve had three 12 gauge SxS down around there. Two are English and the third is German. Interestingly, the barrel lengths are all different. 26”, 28” and 29”.[

I would love to try a 12 with 29’s that is that light.

Come to the next SxS Classic (whenever that will be allowed to be) and you'll have your chance. It's a Sauer sidelock from 1895.

#4 buck is was insanely tight in mine. Once shot a deer at 35 yards and put 19 holes in its head and neck. Not bad from a 27 pellet load. Ive made some impressive kills on coyotes with it as well as taking high score at the cgn sxs classic. My forend hook has worn thin so that it lets the forend move a bit but that happened somewhere after 70 thousand mark. The hook is like a razor now.
If i ever win the lotto max ill have it sent to holland n holland so theyll know what dimensions to make my royals. Lol

I can certainly believe u friend.
I was upland hunting with a companion and he gave me the nice compliment designated shooter while he literally rustled three blue spruce trees.

These three trees very north west corner of rough pasture prairie. I grabbed the wrong birdshot and instead of #6s I picked out BBs instead.(!?!)

Long story short out of every pair of huns I pegged the first and missed the second bird!

However we still got our daily limit.
