20 Year Old Savage in 30-06

So i just recieved a call from a close friend of my parents. He was telling me his friend lost her husband not to long ago and is now selling his rifles. There is a old savage roughly 20 years old. Bolt action and in 30-06. He didn't get a chance to see what model but says its a wood stock and in immaculate condition. Also has an older scope mounted on it. Ahe would sell it to me for 200. He thinks its a 110 or 112 model.

Anyone have experience with older savage rifles?

20 years is not old for that rifle. In good shape without rust or pitting I would give him the 200 so fast my hand would just be a blur.

IMHO a rifle from 20 years ago is built better than one of today's models and should have nicer bluing and fit & finish.

Even I would buy it for $200. Then put it on the EE for $900 and buy a model 70. Then you will have a gun.
