$200 SVT 40s!

The SVT-40 shouldn't be mistaken as a bigger alternative to the SKS. The SVT-40 is finicky at best. They shift in the stock causing 6 - 8moa accuracy. Some are worse than others. The SVT-40 hates the surplus ammo. Even on gas setting 1.7, they constantly fail to eject. With better commercial ammo that's $10 - $15 a box, it functions perfectly just on 1.2. When you have these issues worked out such as a shimming and bedding job done to the SVT-40 and with the use of more expensive commercial ammo, you can expect 3 - 4 moa accuracy. An SKS will get 3 - 4 moa with even the cheapest dirtiest ammo. Go on youtube and look at SVT-40 accuracy test videos and you won't find a video of an SVT-40 that actually shoots well.
shim the stock and either pay someone to do a bedding job or if you can, do it yourself. It will seriously be well worth the trouble when your SVT places 5 shots in 3".

i never had that problem, i have 3 svt 40 and they shoot like a dream, they love surplus ammo and the new mfs ammo and i usually shoots great, i shoot little 500 ml water bottles at 75 yards ( somedays i can't seem to hit a target much though but that diffidently wouldn't be me having a off day cause i am the greatest in the world haha) but i have never had to bed or shim any of mine, i did have to adjust the gas setting on one before but thats easy

They don't record info, they write your info on the receipt but it doesn't go into the computer. When I was last in there another customer jokingly said you guys should have all his info on file because he's was in there buying stuff so often . The guys behind the counter were very quick to correct him by saying that they are not allowed to record info in that way.

They had troubles in the past and simply want to ensure that they only sell firearms to licenced people.
 
The mags are pop riveted to 5, and done quite nicely. The rifle I grabbed is in very nice shape. Great bore, great original type matching stock with only 1 tiny wood repair, era correct forward sling swivel and muzzle brake. Very happy with the thing....Oh, and it's an Izzy too!

Damn I miss my SVT-40. Wish I could have brought it down here with me, it was one of my favorite rifles and probably the best firearms deal ever at $200.
 
Out of curiosity how many did you look at? What were the bores like?
