I always enjoy when the owners of globeco mohawks try to equate rarity with value. I honestly suspect a good portion of their rarity comes from them self destructing or being scrapped because they were so fricking badly modified and frankly dangerous.
 
Yeesh. You would figure that someone with rudimentary firearms knowledge would know not to convert a long piston to a short one, firing heavier bullets no less. No wonder they blew up.

Anyway, just ordered an SVT! This will be no. 2 and hopefully will look good next to my '45.
 
i ordered the svt my first military weapon, i will post picture when it arrive
only shooted a 308 and a 7mm magnum so the svt will resemble to which of these weapon for recoil???
 
Mine came in the mail today. I opted for non-hand select, luck of the draw and got a very nice 1941 Tula with a 12-port break and not one single repair to the stock. In fact at first I thought that the stock was numbers matching, but then noticed a very faint former serial number that had not been "X"ed-out but lightly gone over with forward slashes (or half X's) like this "/ / / /" . It has an electro-penciled trigger guard and bolt and non matching mag as expected. The rifle is still slathered in cosmoline, so I have no idea what the bore is like, but if the outer appearance is any indication I believe it will be quite nice. Needless to say I am very pleased with this rifle, especially at this price. Pretty hard to resist buying another what a fantastic deal. Thanks Lever Arms, you have a new fan. I will definitely be shopping with you guys again in the future.

308 and a 7mm magnum are not weapons, they are cartridges. Your question is impossible to answer.

And some of them are semi automatic, and some of them are bolt action, come to think of it some are lever action etc. Never mind that some have muzzle brakes and some do not. :)

PS: OH NO THERE'S A STOCK REPAIR IN MY 72 YEAR OLD WAR RIFLE! I FEEL I HAVE BEEN SWINDLED OUT OF $225!

Wood looks great! What did you specifically do?
 
Cleaned off the cosmoline.

Specifically... I spent 4 hours on it with a can of brake cleaner and some q-tips. The only thing I did to the stock was buff it a bit with a shop towel and some rem oil.

$25 hand select? - would spend again.

I got my other 2. One has the worst pitting I've seen in a rifle, especially a refurb. I can't see the rifling near the muzzle with all the pitting. I brushed the bore and ran a patch through and it's rust brown... They put a perfect repair free stock on this?! How much is too much pitting? The other rifle is an early style,repair-free stock 1940 Tula with nice crisp rifling and almost no pitting. I may be too picky about the first one??
I know its not levers fault. can't expect them to check the bore on the zillion rifles they have. poor qc at the arsenal I guess. the rifle is beautiful minus the bore...

I have one with a rough bore that I bought from CT. I spent a long time cleaning it and it's nice and shiny now, but it's impossible to pull a patch through the bore without leaving parts of it behind. The good part is that it shoots very well. Don't give up on yours yet.

If the seller uses Canada Post online pick up service they can give you a tracking number immediately but it might not actually be shipped for several days. It is kind of misleading sometimes.

I had an SVT-40 a few years ago that had a shiny unpitted bore with sharp rifling (Excellent bore), but the two I have from this batch, and what I've seen described by others in this thread makes me believe that all have at least some pitting. Doesn't mean they won't shoot well.

Excellent job. The wood just gleams and easily increase in value!
