OK, my latest "no hand-select" batch brought me 1 proper sniper, 2 podolsks, 1 rifle based on SVT-38 receiver, couple of rifles interesting only for advanced collectors and bunch of early 1940-1941 Tula and Izh rifles. Score! Thanks Lever Arms!

This post is worthless without pics! :)

Seriously though, lets see those beauties! Still trying to get my grubby mits on a sniper, to no avail. I need to live vicariously through people and their luck.

Did you order a crate too?

Me to. I am also searching for a sniper. I gave up on my idea if mounting a base to one without the notch.

Just for you.

It was not luck. It was probability theory applied to 1 crate of SVTs with help of some spare $$$.
I'll make pics later.

I've seen those. Too bad they don't just offer the rifle.
Such sniper one can make yourself with file. They don't sell them as "true snipers", right? I've asked and got honest reply.

Out of my four, none even have side rails so I can't use a file!

Horilka: It was luck! I had first crack, recently, at two crates and found zero snipers, and only one Podolsk. I did take 4 to round out my collection with a couple of Izzy's so it wasn't a waste of time. It sure was a lot of fun seeing what was inside when the screws came out!

Did you ask for rails ?

It could have been worse. I know a guy who specifically asked for one with a sniper notch, but like you he forgot to ask for rails.

I went down there today and looked at them and they really are a cool looking rifle ..... tacticool but still all original ..... so much better to be both.

I've had to some unexpected major expenses this week, so I passed it up, but might end back there before the sale ends. I mean it seems a steal when compared to K98's that I understand to be more numerous.
- Are these going to end up really collectible in the future?

overall i think it look nice the only thing i am worried about is the inside of the canon(bore)?? seem like it never got cleaned...

and the second think is that the upper wood is overlapping the bottom wood of the rifle where the open sight is located look at the picture... is that a big problem????

I can see the bottom hand guard is wider. The upper hand guard should be somewhat flush with the bottom hand guard. It could either be the upper shrank or the bottom expanded. You wont know until you disassemble and see what the bottom looks like.

It's refurb, they mixed upper and lower wood from different stocks probably, it's not a problem unless it's a problem for you. But you have nice overstamped (not electro penciled) trigger guard. Is your rifle Izhevsk?
