That's some dam fine shooting pal. Kudos. And even with that one that took a slight vacation , nothing to sneeze at. Again, WELL DONE. Cheers Chris

So I was excited to see what I could do. I'm not mad just disappointed. At my self! I'm very happy to 300 yards. Then I fall off. I have to hunt for the target. Any results I get are not usable because I'm all over . With wind at 300 yards I can hold 5 shots in 4-5 inch group. Great shooting from you guys, very inspiring.

On Rimfire Central, jaja has posted numerous results as "50 at 200" on a thread under Long Range Rimfire.

He shoots 50 round groups at 200 yards. Some pretty impressive results posted over the past two years.

He has gone beyond just testing 22 lr but also 22 magnums and 17 HMR.

time for a TRUE & funny story.
I was out at the range shooting 300 yards with my 303. My buddy asked if I had ever tried the 22 at that range. nope..but we can sure try.

So after multiple ground shots & misses....we found the SWEET Spot. It was a branch on a spruce tree behind the burm. It was about 10 to 14 feet above the target. The branch was the 3rd from the top of the tree.
the targets were metal Pigs "2feet x 2feet in size" approx.

I got pretty good at making the shot. Cooey model 39 iron sites. Federal ammo.

A couple days later at the range, there was a fellow shooting a 270 rifle,..trying out his new scope and hand loads. Nice rifle bench, spotting scope ECT.

He was shooting for about 20 minutes having no luck at the 300 yard piggies.
So, just to be a turd,.I grabbed the cooey 39....and got ready to shoot.

he looked over and said " hey, this is for center fire rifles." I purposely ignored his helpful comment,.....aimed the cooey and shot.
Bang.............................................................................................................TING a few seconds later, LOL

He looked at me with a very pizzed off expression.......picked up all his fancy equipment,...jumped in his truck...roared the engine and left ,,LOL
the look on his face and actions were Priceless. Me and my buddy laughed so hard I feel to my knees.

that was a few years back,..and the range suffered a forest fire....now my tall spruce tree & my reference point is gone.
hope you enjoyed.....I sure did.

That made me laugh now, must have been a great belly-roller at the time...cheers.

thats why I love the 22. I can go to a farm field. Shoot past 350 yards before lunch. No one's upset with the shooting sounds. And once a friend sees you shoot past 200. He will try with his, every one has one.

The best feeling in life, to be able to achieve more with less! To be the underdog and succeed!

Every once in a while, the stars seem to align, and you make a shot that would appear to be impossible.
As a younger guy, I spent a lot of time carrying a Mossberg Model 151M, fitted with an old Weaver B4 scope.

My calling was keeping the starlings out of the cherry tree, and I quickly learned how smart they became
after a few deaths and near misses in their ranks.

One afternoon, I hustled outside with my Mossy as i heard the starlings were in the cherries again. They of
course, departed as soon as I left the house. My father was hoeing the potatoes in the garden, and he just
commented "they are getting used to you David"

However, one of the starlings flew to the edge of our cleared property, and perched on the top of a big Fir
tree standing there. Backdrop was a high rocky ridge, so a safe shot. I said to dad: "I'm going to kill that
starling on that tree" He just laughed and retorted, "you will not even scare him from here."

I threw up that Mossberg, located the starling in the scope, and lifted the rifle the amount I figured I would
need to give him at least a scare. To the surprise of both dad and I, the starling took the hit, and fell straight
down. My dad measured the distance to the base of that fir - 288 long paces from where I was standing when
I shot.

Pretty much a fluke, but it came from familiarity with that rifle and ammo [Whiz-Bang 22 LRHP] Long live the 22
rimfire. To this day, it remains my favorite round. [BTW, I still own a 151M Mossberg rifle] :) Dave.

Thanks for sharing that story, Dave. Those are the ones that stay with you for a long time and make for good memories. Agree with you; the 22lr is my favourite round as well.

It really is a fun day shooting the tiny pill that far, I shot out to 350 on the weekend, heavy winds made for a 2 mil wind hold but still very repeatable one steel, just not great for groups when you go from a 2 mil down to a zero lol

Had a morning at the range on Friday with my TX1. Beautiful sunny and calm, which is a treat around here. I ended the day by putting my 1/4” thick steel rimfire targets at the 200 yard berm. I have 12”, 8”, 6”, and 4” targets from Range Rabbit. Quite musical as the 1/4” thick steel rings nicely with 22lr.

I ended the day by shooting 5 x 10 round magazines at the 4” target. I got 41 hits. It was the most fun I have had at the range.

Where do you get to shoot up to 350? I’m north of Huntsville and can’t find anywhere.

Good shooting, for a 4 inch at 200

If you live around Huntsville, go to Troutspawn Rd and there is a sand pit you can get 350 and more easily. All the guys moose hunting use it to check their rifles and warn all the moose what time of year it is!!
