200 yrd chalenge/22 lr WHO`S IN

not sure when i will get to the range ,weather has been rainy anyways.going to load up on some hq blammo and try again! good luck and have fun

interesting , maybe i will mount my millet lrs on my savage btvss and try it with the cci select , they were grouping all in the same hole a 25 yards

Even the CZ shoots the very best at 50 & 100 with top quality match ammo. [Mine likes the old Lapua Midas "L"]

However, out to 100 meters, the best ammo at affordable prices is [was] Lapua Super Club [Now marketed as SK Standard Plus, I believe]
ELEY Target and ELEY Sport work well also, and do not break the bank.

Best "Plinking" ammo is CCI Blazer, followed by CCI Standard Velocity, but these WILL show fliers at 100.
Keep in mind, your CZ may not like exactly the same ammo mine does, but it does not hurt to try some of these.

Good shooting!!

Eagleye.

Thanks that's very helpful..

I just finished some ammo testing with my Savage MK II. It likes the CCI Green Tag and the Eley Standard. It was just under MOA at 50 yards with these loads.

I'm going to put a 20 MOA rail on it and try it out to 200, hopefully have something up by next weekend.

I have similar opinions regarding ammo as Eagleye. However I used Standard Plus as my baseline in the recent past. I've fired enough of it and spoken with others & have come to the conclusion that the next step up, Rifle Match is now, my more frequently used rifle ammo choice for shooting at 100 and beyond. And out of a box of 50, I should still expect 2-3 inexplicable fliers from SK Rifle Match.

my two bits only with my own rifle

I'll be the first to admit my Savage is no Anschutz or even CZ for that matter, but it didn't shoot the SK Standard Plus as well as a couple of the others. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to get a box of Rifle Match and try it out.

I think I ended up with some older Eley as it looks like the packaging has changed. Does anyone know what the Eley Standard is now being sold as? I have some Eley Target that I have yet to test as well, but I suspect it may be the same stuff in a new package. According to Eley "Please note Sport is branded as Target in the USA." http://www.eley.co.uk/sport/ Can anyone confirm this holds true for Canada?

Sorry OP if this is a hijack and I will move this if necessary, but I'm trying to get out to 200 yards. :)

Hopefully I'll have an attempt at this by the end of the month. I secured a supply of Center-X a couple weeks ago, put scopes on both 22s tonight and zeroed at the indoor range (20 yards). That should get me on paper at 200 realitively quick. I expecting good things from the Vostok and am hoping the SR-22 (mostly Kidd) isn't too embarrassing.

Regarding ammo, I've tried several varieties of RWS / Norma, Eley and SK / Lapua in both of my rifles. Both show a strong preference for SK / Lapua at the target however the chronograph suggests the RWS and Eley are every bit as consistent. I suspect matching the projectile to the chamber is key.

I am interested in participating. However, my CZ 455 is missing a scope. Which Leupold scope will you guys recommend for shooting at 50m/100m regularly and still works well if I want to try 200m occasionally? What other brands of scope will you guys recommend??

I have 60 MOA elevation UP adjustments available in my older Weaver T-10 Microtrac. My scope has just fine crosshairs. So I keep my scope adjustments written down for easy future referance and everything I input uses a confirmed 50 meter zero as a baseline to start from, using the same ammo of course. If I had future ideas they would include a Leupold VariX-III 6.5-20 with Varmint Reticle or another minimum would be the Sightron II
6-24 with AO on both of course.

Well, I thought I would join in the fun. I forgot to take a picture, but it was nothing to brag about.

It rained in sheets here Monday night through the morning, and it cleared into the afternoon and got a little humid, not sure if that made a difference or not. Breezy but not windy. I tried 15 10-shot groups @ 207 yards (thought I set up for 200, but by the time I got in shooting position and had another look with the laser, I had an additional 7 yards?) and my best group had a 6.7" spread. I don't have a fancy rimfire rifle, and I'm using bulk pack high velocity ammo, so I could likely tighten those up using some of the advice in this thread if I were so inclined.

But, I did have a 1-shot group inside a 4mm hole.

Also, the box says my ammo is deadly out past a mile, so let's just start posting our best 1-mile groups.

I am still researching on what scope to get for my CZ 455. So for people participating in this challenge, care to share what gun, scope, ammo and setup you guys used?? Of course, include pictures will be great!

A very old, but refinished Mauser ES350B from 1936, the fiberglass stock is an extra one to supplement the rifle for mounted optics. That ancient Weaver T-10 is steel and was made in 1977. SK Rifle Match ammo. The scope (60 MOA so I'm told) is maxed out around 160 meters & I have to hold higher to make it to 200, but has repeatable clicks. This is a make do project & it presently seems to be quite a fight to keep everything within 4 inches. Something always happens and I often end up with larger groups lately. The fight continues. No, it's certainly not benchrest quality, but it's what I brought to this dance.

I've got three different scopes I use. Weaver T36, Sightron 36X42 or a Leupold Competition 45X. Higher magnification helps. Ammo types I've been using are CCI SV, SK Standard + and Eley Match. Rifles are an Anschutz 54 Match/Lilja and I've just built an ultimate 10/22. Shooting is on hold for me for a few weeks as I broke my thumb yesterday and find out tomorrow if I have to have surgery to repair it,:bangHead::mad::bangHead:
