200 yrd chalenge/22 lr WHO`S IN

I use mostly 36X Leupolds for my precision rimfires.
These have the EFR feature.
I also have been known to use Leupold 6.5-20 EFRs and 24X Leupold,
as well as a T24 Weaver with the 1/8 moa dot.
Eagleye.

Here's my 200 yard group. Remington 597 with federal 525

What do I win?

your on.. i have been working on my 200 yrd group.. need some more practice .. my groups are not that great yet to take some pics.. hard to find ammo that will make a good group at that distance

Ammo is no problem. Got fantastic groupings at that range.
It's my camera that's not showing the target clearly when
shooting photos at that distance.

Sorry for the glare. I reduced it considerably also.
This is my effort from 3 days ago that for some reason photobucket editor would not let me post.
I think I'm going to put this task on a temporary hiatus until I can put better glass on my rifle.
The first two high and left strikes were my fault do to not reading the wind quite right.
And the bottom three, low of centre, I have no idea why they struck so low in the black.
But at least all 18 shots are accounted for.

I learned some valueable lessons today:
Number 1 is the Leupold 20 X scope is a great idea indeed!
Number 2 is a little more sobering......the last batch of Rifle Match was more accurate/consistant then what I was shooting today.
The zeroing at 25 & 50 went just fine. Then with minimal effort, had groups hovering right around one inch at 100.
I had just enough luck to confirm come-ups for 200, when everything went to h@ll!

This Rifle Match ammo is pretty p### poor stuff for groups at 200.
Oh well, lesson learned.......

How many moa do you guys come up from 100m to get on paper at 200m? I've got an old Winchester 75 with a 20x Lyman Super Targetspot that does ok at 100m.

I'm principally a black powder guy but the .22's get shot at 200 by a number of black powder and schuetzen guys as there are a lot of similarities with respect to barrel time and muzzle velocity.

Thanks,

Chris.

With my Leupold 20X M8, with the 60 MOA range elevation up, I have plenty of left over elevation at 200 meters with SK Rifle Match ammo. This with about 95, 1/4 clicks up from the 100 meter zero. This does not work out the same with my T-10 Weaver Microtrac, and supposedly it has the same MOA up adjustment range. The truth is I have to aim high and left by 5"s either way (and the elevation max'ed out) to get this one to print close to the bull.

I have no explanation for this.............

OK, I think I did it. I was testing ammo so I settled on Eley Target and CCI Green Tag. More detail here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?934798-Savage-Mark-II-TR-Ammo-Testing-*Updates-28-43*

Here's a picture of my rig. Stock Savage Mk II TR with an EGW 20 MOA rail, Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x56 riding an American Defense Scout mount.

Here's 2 x 5 round groups with the Green Tag. The first one was the upper right and it was the first ones I was getting on the paper. Just quick and casual as we had a bit of a calm spell in an otherwise breezy day. I started holding left 1 mil for windage after and started trying, which is probably why the group opened up. :)

Conditions started to worsen, but I managed to land 10 shots of the Eley Target into a 6" square.

I can't wait to practice a bit more and try it out on a calmer day. Also, it's time to lighten the trigger and install the new bottom metal. :)

Thought I'd resurrect this great thread.

I only have a 5 shot group to post but I will try it again with 20 rounds the next time I get to the range.

I am going to try a better target with a cross as even at only 9x the red bull does not provide a precise aiming point.

I'm going to take Eagleyes advice and shoot standard velocity ammo (Federal Gold Medal) that my 455 likes.
