200 yrd chalenge/22 lr

Hmmm, I should try this. The range I go to has a gong at 300 yrds that I can ring with every shot (using CCI mini-mag), but never tried shooting on paper at more than 100 yrds.

Btw, there's a huge drop at 300 yrds. Must be about 8 feet (never measured).

I'm calculating the drop at 200 (50 m zero) will be 52-73 inches, depending on velocity. Anyone have better numbers?

I'm going to try just barely sub-sonic (1080 fps according to Eley) after to 50m BR event (anyone else a member at Mission R&G?)

With mini mags and 50 yard zero ISnipe says 44.78" or 21.38 moa at 200 yards and for 300 yards131.44" or 41.84 moa.

With 40gr eley target and 50 yard zero 58.73" or 28.04 moa at 200 yards and for 300 yards 169.76" or 54.03 moa

Just reading this, imagining a firing line of shooters all attempting this; look like artillery, with all those elevated barrels! lol

Cheers! Going to the range Sat. Fingers cross for decent weather.

Going out this morning, federal match, cci green tag and eley club xtra on the menu.I only have a 12 power scope on my bvss and cant wait for the new 16 power with target turrets.Ever since I started shooting@ 200 with my 22,I have noticed that I realy have to concentrate on the basics of shooting. The smallest error in trigger pull makes a huge difference.

C'mon you 22 rimfire shooters!!
On a calm day, with a very accurate 22 and ammo it likes, you should be able to stay under 2" at 200.

Note a couple of 5-shot groups here.

These were shot at 200 yards on a windless day. 2nd group is from my 40X, squares are ½".

I have a huge problem with that: At 200 yrds, That whole target would look like a 1/2" square through my scope, nevertheless trying to hit a certain spot like that.

Went out ,ran eley cci, rws and yellow jackets.10 shots at clay target remnant,10 on paper(HAH).The clays worked great once sighted in.The paper might as well been THE BROAD SIDE OF A BARN!!!!!!#$%###&***.I will blame it on the wind( three tackitos for brekky)

Going to pick up new 4-16 today. Will try again this weekend, will see what the weather does.super sonic vs sub all over again.Does anyone have a brick wall I can bash my head on.great trigger time,Just love hitting the clays@ 200.Good luck out there. Let me know how you did,50 yrds is BORING

I found another 200 meter group shot with my Remington 40X
This target was shot using Eley Match EPS ammo [Black Box]
Amazing how well these 22's can shoot!

Here's some 50M groups, using the same combination.

Here are some 50M groups, usingt my Suhl 150...same ammo.

Both these rifles shoot under 1" at 200M regularly, but the caveat is, there must be virtually NO wind. I usually shoot early morings, when it is quiet.
Regards, Eagleye.

great groups,I will keep trying.Done a lot of research, chambering, ballistics, etc.Your right about the mornings(no more tacitos for brekky)too much wind on the coast after 12.Going to upgrade from a 12x scope, pull back to 100,test for groups.Settle on one brand of ammo, then back to 200.Still waiting for my 20 moa rail to come in.
