$2000 o/u

If you had $2000 to buy a new o/u shotgun what would you guys buy?
(No answers like save it and buy a beretta, or buy a used beretta)

Ruger Red Label. I purchased a new 12 guage 26" barrels, screw in chokes for less than 2K more than a few years ago. It is still unfired but is one of the prettiest guns I have ever owned. Beautiful wood, excellent bluing. For some reason the wood on #1 rifles and Red Label shotguns is often excellent.
 
Save another $1000 and get a Beretta or Browning. I don't know of too many people who have ever regretted spending more for a better shotgun, but know dozens who have regretted spending less for something that they didn't like as much (including me).

With a mandatory $2,000 limit and the requirement it be a new gun I'd be looking at the Fabarm, Weatherby Orion II (a rebadged SKB), Winchester Select or 101 Field and pick the one that fit me best.

I suspect it would be the Fabarm.

I have a 20G Red Label and find it excellent to shoot and gives me `pride of ownership`. I also have a Ruger #1 in 45/70 and they both have lovely wood,Ruger obviously keeps the good stuff for these two classics.!!

I would have said that, but the OP said "(No answers like save it and buy a beretta, or buy a used beretta)" I guess because you are a mod you can get away with it;)
 
Many Browning under $2000. You can have some of the Beretta for that price (+ tax). Until recently I thought the beretta better than than the browning.

I just bought a Franchi Renassaince last December,new,for about 1600,but Im supposed to get 200 back on a rebate. Thats taxes in. Ive put mabey 500 target shells through it at clays and Im very pleased with it. Its VERY light,its got nice wood,the action is just loose enough to feel "right",and the quality is good. I also shoot a Citori so I would recommend them too.

Welcome, Nimrob. I believe your question, if elaborated a little further, may help generate more appropriate responses.....

Are you looking for a Field model or a Sporting model? What gauge did you have in mind?

What would be the purpose for acquiring that O/U shotgun (other than the act of shooting that :D)?

Hunting with occasional Clay shoots thrown into the mix? If exclusively for hunting, then what type of hunting - Upland and/or Waterfowl, perhaps even Deer?

Or will that be used exclusively for Clay shooting?

Have you had an opportunity to handle any particular brand(s)/models(s) in order to determine fit as well as obtain some idea on what you may prefer?
