I hunt in 85C. I have had visuals on two big bucks. Had one huge 8 pointer(yes I could count the points) in the crosshairs of my crossbow scope but just wasn't quite close enough-50 yards facing me with a crosswind arrghh! The other is at least a ten pointer who crossed behind me the other night while in the stand I used to take an 8 pointer earlier this year. Just gotta keep getting out there and eventually I will get lucky.
Here is mine, nothing to write home about except this buck represends finally understanding where the Whitetails are in that area, the first years I hunted the area I did not even buy a whitetail tag. Now it's two years in a row from the same general area. Next year I am going to hag out for either the 7x7 or 6x6 that have been seen (and happily not shot yet)
heres the "rat" for 2005. I shot him on nov 17 during the rifle season with a muzzleloader, my first muzzleloader buck. hunting over a bait pile. built a blind out of the foot and a half of snow and waited him out. cracking jokes for 3 hours with my buddy and then a doe and her fawn came to feed when he showed up. one shot from my buddy TC omega put him out cold. Note i shot the deer the night before an hour away and then took more pic the day after. thats why no colors or snow. hes got a 3 inch kicker of the right G2 but you cant see it in the pic.
My 2005 Mule Deer, shot with my .284 Win 140 grain Accubond at 80 yards.....
My 05 Whitetail shot after a small push first thing in the morning. He came trotting out behind 2 does and ended up meeting his match at 300 yards from the same .284 Win 140 grain Accubond.....
Well the boy tags out again this year with another buck. I think this make him 5 for 5 and he is only 16 years old (He is getting hard to live with).
This Whitetail was shot once again with his 308 BLR and this time I loaded him some 150gr Barnes XLC's. We never recovered and of the bullets. but they seem to do the job.
the first picture is two of the boys with their Mules and the second picture is my son with his Whitetail.
I was slow getting the camera work done so he just has the head and hide!
