2006 IPSC “Sin City” Open

Greetings Fellow Shooters,

The 2006 IPSC “Sin City” Open is just around the corner. The match is set to go for December 2nd & 3rd, 2006.

There will be five exciting stages with approximately 100 rounds all devised by the evil little mind of Madness.

Total Cost: $20CND (still the cheapest Level 2 around!)

And from your $20 Match Fee, Windsor Action Pistol Club will be donating $5 per competitor to the “Eugen Fund”! What a great cause!

We are going to try the new on-line squadding system, but I WILL CLOSE THE ONLINE SQUADDING on Monday, November 27th, and I would appreciate a personal e-mail /PM if you need to withdrawal from the match with such late notice. (It is only courteous to those on the waiting list.)

If you have shot our “Sin City” match in the past, you know we put on a fun match. If not, come on out and enjoy.

Prizes and Surprises as per usual for the Windsor Crew.

Questions… Comments… Concerns… Contact me by PM

aarrggg... this is the weekend just after some new HH people will be doing their BB course, so we'll go to the barrie level 1 for their qualifying match instead... if it was the weekend later, we'd probably drive up to Windsor. As it is, I wouldn't want to go there just to have these guys tiptoe around the stages to not get DQ'ed... next time!

P.s. ohh, and we'll (sometime in the new year) have a waiting list functionality in the system, so you'll be able to add yourself to that if the match is full, and in the order people joined, you'll get automatically signed up for any spaces that open up on squads which you indicated as being interested in.

Omen,
How about an Oxford Level 1 in the morning then a Windsor Level 2 in the afternoon or vise versa.
Keep it in mind.
Already got 8 GM / M Class shooters... should be a Classifier Match in 3 Divisions!

...just curious...but from a safety or DQ perspective...why is their first match any different than the 2nd?

A DQ on their first match (although unfortuante) would not carry any additional penalty than if it happend on the 2nd or 3rd or 100th...

.....and, the L2 would be their first match toward a classification. So, Omen, go west young man!
Several people did their qual at the recent Burlington L2, not a lot of tip-toeing, just slow, safe shooting.

So whats wrong with tiptoeing around the stages they pay there money to shoot .I for one tiptoe or move slow (call it what you want ) because of bad knees/back/shoulders but im not going to stop shooting because of the guy behind me that wants to run the stage

Squigly make an excellent point. It does not matter if it is first or your last match, safe is safe, shooting is fun. Bigger shoot more fun. You own it to your new students to organize a road trip and show them two great matches.

getting DQ'ed during your qualifying match mandates a repeat of the BB course, right??

But hmm... Oxford IS on the way to windsor, isn't it.. ?? That might work... Nope, the morning squads in Oxford are already full...

Thast is not an official policy...although I think some people consider it an unwritten rule.

I am going to have it clarified at the next board meeting...but unless someone has an arguement to include that as offical policy...it's a no go.

A DQ at your first match will certainly get you some unwanted attention...but the end goal is you walk away with a clear idea of what you need to work on. I would even encourage the student to contact the BB Instructor for advice...but it would not be a manditory re-course.

Reasoning...

Tip toeing through the first macth...and DQ'ing at the second one...not much of a difference to me...it still identifies that you have things to work on.

I also don't see the wisdom in adding additional pressure to someones first match.

A DQ at your first match...someone will be talking to you about the things you need to work on. 2 DQ's in one Calandar year...it's a re-course

Glad you clarified that, Quig...

We're similar. Our provincial policy is you don't get yout black badge until you sucessfully complete your first match. DQ it, and your instructor comes over for a quick review and pep talk and you try again at the next match.

Multiple DQs in a year can get anyone back attending the black badge in any province, even if you're the provincial champion with 15 years experience.
