Just comparing both the older & newer Ruger Mini's for feedback & info.
Also, any feedback on the Mini 30 is welcomed..

Which optics would be adequate..

If im not mistaken there was a few posts about the mini's accuracy already. Maybe try searching see that turn anything up. Perhaps the new mini's haven't been discussed in much detail yet. I know the old ones are minute of barn accurate. Unless your 666....

The new target version is said to shoot close to MOA, something the Mini should have been doing from day one without a heavy barrel.

"...the target model..." MSRP $995US. It hasn't been out long enough for anybody but the gun rag writers to review it. I'm not sure about that either.

An accurate Mini-14? And it only took Bill Ruger dying for someone at the factory to try making one. They must have been really scared to tell him how crap it was.

It looks like it has parts of 14 different stocks mashed together! If they would put a decent one on it, it might be worth the money.

Anyone know what's up with the "sliding, adjustable barrel weight"?? Why does it need it if it has a heavy barrel??

It’s supposed to adjust barrel hormonics like the Browning Boss system.

To all you Mini-14 owners out there; put a muzzle break/ flash suppressor on your rifle and you will find your groups cut in half. I’m sure it has to do with harmonics.

I’m not to sure about trying to make the Mini a bench rifle though. I love my Mini but I think I’d buy something else for the money if I wanted an auto loading target rifle.

Right, I knw that they're supposed to do...but why would it need one on a heavy barrel? I thought they were usually put on lighter weight barrels. Maybe it's just the pic, but it looks pretty thick, and it's not very long. I don't get why they wouldn't fix the problem in the first place by using a slightly thicker barrel instead of tacking on that thing on the end.

Hopefully they will drop the 'jimi hendrix' inspired stock , parkerize ,or blue it and release it in the same good ol wooden 'traditional' stock they have been using for decades....finally a step in the right direction, looks good
