2007 Canadian National IPSC Championships

Haha, I beat Fang on one stage. Looks like I zeroed faster than he did :/

Overall, I had a lot of fun. Good stages, good weather, and good people.

Why wasn't there a dance / social after the awards banquet though? A few of us invaded the Foggy Dew next door, but it would have been nice to have everyone there.

Maybe next year.

2Filthy name change coming your way.
I am with CanbleMonkey, a dance or social would be good, if enough people could convince their spouses to come along that is. of course a lot of people in IPSC are divorced, or use big matches as an excuse to get away from their significant other. so maybe just have the MD hire Dancing girls for the banquet?

Congrats to NK for winning PD and to CM for taking second canuck. I made the spread a little less than the beating they gave me at the AB provincials but I still couldnt catch them. I'm happy with third but its close enough to taste and leave me wanting more.

Dear Cablemonkey... did you not notice that it was quite the sausagefest at the banquet? I know it was Pride Week here in Vancouver but dancing around with Murray and friends ain't my idea of fun.

I think he does protest too much. ...

Congrats Dallas.

Thanks for Name Change...
Now you're talking... if all of the competitors that brought thier significant others brought along their significant others friend or 2, we might be getting some where.

DQ's

Can someone explain how 19 shooters were DQ'd in finally resullts must be close to 10% of competitors???? I wasn't able to attend and always check results seems high??? were some stages 90degee unfrindly????

Please let me know???

There didn't seem to be a common denominator to the DQ's. Some were seasoned vets doing dumb things, some were newer competitors rushing a bit much. I saw a finger in trigger guard on reload DQ, but as I heard there were dropped guns and a few breaking 90.

must of been something in that BC air, second hand smoke perhaps. :0
I think there was only one target, common to 2 stages that could be enaged past 90, and I don't think anyone DQ'd there.

just standard brain fades, and simple stage design that allowed people to make their own mistakes.

Safety issues aside, I think that was a good move.. wth 20 stages it's kida boring to see ones that only let you move forward or side to side.. moving backwards is a good skill to master (and to work on..) I can seperate some skilled shooters from others (as some stages focus on other aspects etc..)

overall there was a good mix of different aspects across the stages.
IMHO

There were a couple that were unfortunately turfed for not engaging safety when holstering. Some good spotting by ROs.
We had excellent ROs with good eyes, which may have increased the likelyhood of DQs.

Most of the DQs were for breaking 90 during movement to the next position, not when engaging targets. One other was for breaking 90 during a fall.

There weren't a lot of stages with any gimmicks to make them special. There were a lot of stages with many options and decisions. You could make it simple or difficult, your choice.

There was even an option where you could shoot over a wall while handcuffed to a table. (if you were tall enough!:puke:). Were you one ckc123?

I guess the stages were gimmickless to make them run smooth with that many people. And except for a late start on day 3 due to few stage "tweakings" after the change over, things did run pretty smooth. IMHO.

Still, I like a few gimmicks now and again. Something to add a little Pizzazz. You know, a stage that you talk about years later......"Hey! Remember that 30th Anniversary match in PoCo and the handcuff stage...."

Gimmicks and pizzazz make a match memorable, I think. Oh well.

I'll bet there is pizzazz in Lethbridge........:p

I DQ'd one for shooting a hole in a prop wall, while the gun was at waist level and he was moving backward. he hit the wall with his gun and it went bang. 2 more for breaking 90, and one for sweeping her hand. All my DQ's were people going to the same target array. sucks, but it happens.
