Well I have had a day to rest and reflect on the Provincials and thought that I would offer my views.

The first thing that sticks out in my mind is how perfect the squad scheduling panned out. The stages were sorted to the bays in a way that caused absolutely no bottle necks. It was awesome having last shots of the day wrapped up by roughly 4:15PM. Plenty of time for the staff to head home or to the hotel, clean up, and still make it out for dinner and drinks :rockOn:at a reasonable time.

Next, I was amazed at the abundance of certified officials. Burn out was a non issue. Roughly 5 to 7 officials  for a 2 stage bay running 1 stage at a time. Plenty of time for the RO's to rotate duties and get some shade and rest.

Dedicated Range Warden kept the supplies stocked, ranges clean, and the water coolers full.

Stats shack was a finely tuned machine. (Note to Self: Don't piss off Julie... she will hunt you down!)

Josko pulled together one heck of a show. And I know that Mike A. was a "behind the scenes" guy that deserves alot of praise. They both put their hearts into this match and it showed in so many different ways.

Thanks to the administration and members at GRGC for your hospitality in hosting this years provincials.

Cheers, Eh?

I echo 2Filthy's comments as well. It was a well run and organized match. I would like to thank all who made it happen... well done folks.

I had just as much fun working the match, the crews were great.... thx guys. We did have a big surprise while waiting for the last squad of the day on Saturday when the winds came up and blew down the whole stage 3... the "V-Twin"... The looks on everyone's face was priceless...but after the initial shock we all jumped into action and had it all rebuilt before the squad showed up.

I was the only Production shooter on our squad with Josko, Mike A., Al S., Mike B. and it was a joy to watch these top shooters in action. I also enjoyed every stage, they were well designed to challanged the shooters' abilities.

For those who could not attend, you missed a great match.

BTW 2Filthy... you did an outstanding job on your range, you impressed a lot of people with your professionalism... well done.

Yes it was indeed a very well run match I had a great time. I found the stages to be very well thought out and as was mentioned the squading was perfect. Even with a few re-shoots thinks went on time on our range (9. and 10).

The RM and RW were johnny on the spot when ever a call went out on the radio for assistance.

One of the best aspects to me aside from the aformentioned abundance of Certified Officials was the help of the competitors. I had only one squad over the entire match that I can honestly say was lax in that department.

Kudos all around........

Oh and Filthy.........you are just lucky they did not send Trinity after you for those missing score sheets!!!!

It was a great match, and many thanks to Josko and Mike for spear heading the whole thing. The stages challenged pretty much all of the various IPSC skills equally, including the use of the mushy grey thing we all keep lodged in our skulls. Everything ran on time and as far as I know, there were no contentious issues that cropped up and everyone I spoke to had a great time.

Sadly, I did not get my "scores adjustment bribe" in the mail in time, but that is my fault.

Well done guys! Same time same place next year?

Don't kill me. I'm kidding.

On a more serious note (or a less sarcastic one)

We should all give the entire match comittee two thumbs up.

It was very smoothe...to the point that on Friday I mentioned to a few people...it's too quiet :p

Stages were excellent (very well balanced match)

Shooting was done by 4pm ish every day

Consistent RO'ing

Pace allowed for lot's of time for squads to socialize...

...and all kidding aside, a good AGM. It did get a bit exciting for a minute...but I'd rather have that then stone cold faces and no questions.

I would like to add my thanks to the match committee and the GRGC ,and all the helpers. I had a great time - except for a brain failure on the stage (#2?) with the bear trap  - and it was great to see everybody chip in on the patching -at times there seemed to be 2 competitors standing by at every target. as eveicdnece of the quality of the organization : even with the 10 person squads on Sunday, I couldn't believe we were done ROing on stages 7 & 8 by 3:20. -so I was able to avoid most of the traffic and get home - 40 minutes south of Ottawa - by 7:30 or so :D

I was keeping an eye on this forum, surprised that it took so long for this thread to appear! :) I was going to start one myself, but I had already started a few about this match, so I backed off, I knew someone would definitely start one, given how nice the match was.

Everything was just great, what REALLY impressed me was the schedule and the ability to keep everyone moving, without any bottlenecks! With the exception of the PQ provincials (those guys must use black magic to get TWO sets of squads through in one day!), it's very unusual to run so smoothly and so ontime/on-the-ball... Not sure who deserves the credit for this, I'm sure it's a combination of people and factors, but whatever it was, that was just great!! Thanks!

My comments are in the other string.
I can't say enough about the match. I agree with 2filthy it was very well run. My experience is people will be very happy if the match is run well. They get over bad weather and poor scores the never forget bad calls (or perceived bad calls). Professional range staff is key. No standing around at stages no back ups. Less is often more. Mecanical stuff is cool but it tends to break and at the worst possible time. It needs to reset constantly and consistently. A few steel is good too many is a nightmare. When match organizers treating staff well by not being overworked results more professional staff.

I nominate 2filthy to be the recieptant of the "Next range from hell” as he has clearly demonstrated he could handle it.

All in favor Say “Eye”

We can't forget all the work the Borden put in as well!!!

Well I can say that this was the first match that I actually saw a GM cry when the results where read. (Way to Go Sarah!)

My only complaint is I have NOTHING to complain about. lol... Everything was well tuned and smooth. Like the best trigger on a match gun. Worth the drive, and the wait.

I salute everyone who help make it happen..

well, you can always complain that we didn't do as well as we could/should have, haha! No matter how well we shoot, we can always complain that it should have been better!! :) :)
