2008 IDPA Championship Guns Used

Wes nobody said you can't have 18 round stages. What we are saying is you can have excellent stages with less and they don't always have to require a reload. Some of the most challenging stages I have shot consisted of six to nine rounds.

Wes since when have you ever managed to contain yourself to shooting a six round stage with only six rounds?:D I think we should allow you to shoot our stages with a Tommy Gun.;)

...If anything guys want more rounds per stage not less. While a couple of stages of 8 rounds or less are okay, shooting up to or close to the 18 round limit is fun.

...for example we did that 9 target with 2 shots per target array and it was fun, shooting 18 rounds is a hoot, especially that one since it used 3 magazines as well. The guys at the club where stoked :)

:evil::evil:...Beware the path to the dark side...:evil::evil:...It has lots of 32 round stages...:evil::evil:

The Point?

What is your point John? The AC's want IDPA to remain within the spirit of the rules of the game.

Take Care

Well maybe that is the point.

2 or 3 guys deciding we should shoot fewer rounds per stage.

Who was complaining? I know I wasn't.

In my brief time shooting with you guys I have never heard anyone say "That stage had too many rounds. I hate that!"

I enjoy those quick sharp stages as much as the next guy but lets face it, more rounds = more fun...to a point. (I like the 18 limit)

I guess my point is I don't like these arbitrary decisions being made with no consultation with the shooters; fewer rounds per stage at Provincials, not publishing the stages before the shoot, etc.

I hear what you say about sticking with the spirit of 'defensive shooting' but this is a game. As we have said many times, and I know you agree, the only thing we are practicing for is to be better at IDPA. We still wear concealment garments, we still utilize all available cover, we still reload behind cover.

The only two defensive shooting incidents I have any personal knowledge of were both over in 3 rounds or less. I don't think we want to push realism to that degree.

I guess it boils down to this. Before the AC's start deciding things on our behalf maybe they should make an effort to solicit input from the shooters. Perhaps an annual questionaire? Something so that we can have a little input.

With a process of some sort you would know the organisation is moving in a direction the shooters can support.

Anyhow...thats how I see it.

Cheers,
John

annual questionaire sounds good, considering as members we all get the magazine anyway why not publish one in there.... ask the membership questions like "where do you want to see the sport go" and such....

great idea john ... :)

what! less rounds per stage? that sounds like a terrible idea to me.

i do like some of the short fast stages, i love the ones where im shooting 12+ rounds. more rounds down range is always a plus for me. and when designing "no reload stages" what division? if we go with the lowest that means only 6 rounds a stage

Don't get too hung up on that stuff heavenIsAlie. That is just a thought at this time. Just join us and have fun.
