WOOooo Hoooo..

This is the first time that I will have even West of Sarnia Ontairo except for a few trips to Chicago....

We are making it into a family trip.......DRIVING through this great country. We are going to visit Drumheller before we head down to Lethbridge!

My daughter is not going to shoot the match as she will be keeping my wife company...........

Remember to wake up when you hit the Alberta border, the drive between Winnipeg and Alberta can be a bit boring at times. The good news is you can play the game "How many dead gophers do you see on the road" while travelling through Saskatchewan, but it does get a bit boring after the first few dozen.

Have a safe trip and thanks for joining us out west. If you want to add 3 hours to the trip take your family to Banff.

LOL...

My son was wondering if we should bring along a rifle and try to get in some gopher hunting on the way!!

We are considering Banff.........there is just so much we want to see.

Lock the kids in the car and take your wife on a romantic walk if you go to Banff. Trust me you won't regret it. The mountain air makes women do things they haven't done since thier twenties, if you know what I mean. :D

How much time are you going to spend touring
At Nanton theres a Lancastor WW2 bomber you can also walk thru thats restored
Also lots to see around Southern Alberta and Lethbridge

I am hoping/presuming if you are going to Drumheller that you'll visit the Royal Tyrell Museum (dinosaur museum). It's pretty cool (and not much else to see there other than hoodoos).

Second vote for Banff. If you're going to come all this way you have to make it to the Rocky Mountains. I would highly recommend heading to Banff and Lake Louise (only another 45 min past Banff). There's also Waterton Lakes National Park in southwestern Alberta which won't be that far from Lethbridge (it's in the mountains too). Heck, if you're going that far it's only another 7.5-8.0 hours to Vancouver and the Pacific Ocean for that matter :)

SCREW BANFF!! go out to Waterton parks instead. less tourists and better scenery and only an hour from Lethbridge. plus you can incorporate a stop at the Remmington Carriage house in Cardston.

well some days it pays to live in a province where the word "gun" does not entice mass hysteria. on Monday i received notice that the Alberta Government is going to make a substantial grant to the 2008 Nationals :dancingbanana: How many other provinces can claim this?

Then today i received notice that out Local shooting club, Chinook Country Shooters, is going to become a Gold Plus sponsor! this is on top of all the work that the local shooters are putting in for the Nationals.

On top of all the above, we get to go shoot out first outdoor match of the year this weekend in Olds and the weather gods are looking at favoring us with decent weather.

Canadian BDX Combat Master will be the official supplier of match ammo.
Only match ammo purchased through the match will be recognized as match ammo. Match Ammo
must be ordered and prepaid by June 1, 2008 to guarantee delivery.
The following ammo will be available. Note that price adjustments may occur but we will try to
hold the price as much as we can. Bullets will be sold in 500 blocks.
I'm confused. We have to buy our ammo? Why does it have to be "recognized as match ammo"? Seem to be missing some calibres...

No you don't have too, some shooter don't make their own or just cannot bring enough ammo with them...for the bigger match.

Buying the match ammo give a free pass for the chrono.....meaning you don't have to worried about making the chrono, it's assume that the match ammo will make PF in most (all)gun's. Of course you have to shoot the entire match with that ammo.....

Thanks for answering Elmer Fudd for me Dansy.

Match ammo is simply a courtesy put on by the match organizers for those who have to fly and can't bring ehough ammo. you are allowed 5 kilos of ammo on an airplane. depending on what you shoot and how they weigh it (with or without boxes) this represents between 300 (45) to 400 (9mm) rounds. since the match is 343 rounds it would be really tight.

If you wish to ship your own ammo, we have set up an address to receive your ammo and we will have it available at the range, starting about monday, July 28.

Shipping ammo unless you are a dealer and qualified to pack or verified packing for dangerous cargo it is pretty much illegal to ship these day......at least if you declare the ammo to the carrier it won't be accepted by them.....
