Class Act

During the awards ceremony Alex S, from Ontario, won of of the guns that was up for grabs. Instead of taking the gun, he asked that we redraw instead. Now that is what i call a class act. Way to go Alex!

of course you always forget to thank peoples when you do these sort of things. I forgot to thank the Brooks Club for the loan of their activators and swingers. As well, i would like to thank Ed P for building the deflectors for the B zones on the zones stage, for the loan of his quads, obtaining the recycle cans and for bringing things down from Brooks. Also Keith B for build the ports wall and helping out before, during and after the match.

I would like to thank Rick R for the loan of his quads.

not to be forgotten is the Alberta SC Todd O who built the zoned stage, came down early to help with setup and was a strong supporter.

Last but not least by any means is all of the people who helped us on Sunday with the tear down. it helped us a lot with the tear down.

For those who were looking for them, your ICS scores for this match are now up on the IPSC.org website.

There was a problem at ICS world headquarters, but is has apparently been resolved.

That's me in the white(ish) hat. Judging from my stance, it looks like I'm about to beat the s**t outta the activator. It deserved it :p .

you are not the only one,....although the activator on the previous stage I could have poured gasoline on and roasted marshmallows.

One more set of thanks yous.

First off i would like to thank Kevin M, Lisa R., Anne M, Debbie S, Simone from Quebec and Tracey (our stat picker uppper girl.) No one sees the work they do but stats were up to date at the end of each day and posted to the web.

I would also like to thank Geore, Allan and Amber for working the chrono.

I guess I need to spell it out a little better. For those of you who provided an ICS alias on your registraton form (and who bothered to confirm their registration data on the posted competitor listings), you can find your ICS result for this match by going to http://www.ipsc.org/alias.php and entering your ICS alias.

Ahhh...I thot I included my ICS alias on my registration, but I was apparently mistaken. ;)

I guess I missed the posted competitor listings because I got to the match late. :p

classy move on Alex's part. good on him.

really wish I'd been there, the stages looked like they were fun.

Save the Princess

Save the princess take II with the actual princess. The princess was hand painted by one of the ladies in Stats (my wife - she also hand painted the snakes where you shot the eyes as well as the three Anancondas below the swingers on the Anaconda stage) - our 3.5 year old daughter was the model for the Princess, my wife actually traced her to get the height/arm/leg length right.

Princess while it was being painted. Yes, she painted it with dabs of paint off of the piece of tile you see.

ICS Process Update

A few people were wondering about how their ICS score for the match was calculated. I now have that info to share with you.

Each division is considered on its own. In order to submit scores from a Level III or higher match to ICS you need to have at least 10 competitors in the division, at least 30% of whom already have an ICS classification in that division. We met that criteria for Open, Standard, and Production.

If the division has an international ICS Grand Master competing in it, the match percentages are used as they stand. This was the case for Production.

If there is no international ICS Grand Master in the division, the scores for all of the competitors who already have an ICS classification in that division are sorted by match percentage and the top 2 and bottom 5 scores are tossed. If there were over 25 classified competitors in the division, another 5 scores are tossed from the bottom of the list. The average difference between the match percentage and the international ICS percentage of the remaining competitors is calculated and this amount is subtracted from everyone's score to arrive at their ICS percentage for the match. For Open this average offset was 16.3% and for Standard it was 17.3% (give or take some small rounding errors).

Now you know.
