2008 Ontario IPSC Provincials Web site launched

I think I used up all my MOJO for the year this past weekend. So basically its a tunnel that you have to bend over and crawl through, and shoot at the same time? Sounds like fun. I can see where someone with a bad back or knees would have trouble!

We used one at last years 3 gun match on a rifle stage. It was a riot!

Ours was 4 feet tall so you need not crawl. I have a vid somewhere of my son going through it (it was his first 3 gun match).

With my eye sight and the stenght of my glasses, and basic optics, the depth of focus in really light condition is non existant for me. As such, my ability to hit the target in near-dark has NOTHING to do with my shooting ablity. I see nothing if I focus on my sights, and this is bulls**t, as much as some people might think it's "cool". this is even ignoring the fact that different people's eyes take different lengths of time to adjust to darkness, which totally throws out the windows the idea that ipsc matches are supposed to be test of SHOOTING ABILITY.

In misc level 1s or 2s, who cares. In the provincial championships, when the competition is so tights, putting in a stage where someone is f**ked because his depth of focus in low light is next to zero, has nothing to do with shooting or IPSC... That's how you should ready it ;)
well you always have the option to take a 20% penalty for that stage and shoot with the lights on... I had to do this once because I shot with a bad shoulder and because I was recovering from surgery and could not perform what the stage required me to do I took the ding rather than a DNF... pretty simple stuff really

i HATE Cooper tunnels. I think for a tall person,..this is little harder,..but then high ports are harder for short people LOL!
I would say it presents a physical challenge more over a shooting challenge....

I'd argue that since eyesight is an integral part of being able to shoot well, low light is just a different version of testing shooting ability. The reason so many of our ahem..."distinguished" shooters go to red dots is because thier eyesight is not what it used to be and they can't focus like a 25 year old, but the dot levels the field in open.

Thinking along your lines, we should only make short distance stages so far sighted shooters can remain in standard & production.

Hey RELLIOT think of us broken down seniors when you design that stage in all truth it sounds like a great idea ... twisted enough for my sick mind  if you do do this I have around 2000lbs of lead in 10 lb bricks if you ever need em

Years ago while preparing to run a level III match (Sharon Open) Jeff and I recieved a stage design that would have had the shooters low crawl through about 70m of tunnel built out of skids....I think we used that one....to start the bon fire of scrap while cleaning up the range.

The regisration form is now on the IPSC Ontario website.

If anyone from out of Ontario needs an invite please send me a PM.

I will open the online sign up shortly.
