What part of this don't people get?
These matches don't put on themselves.
Somebody has to be the official, do the scores, the set up & tear down, and the gophering, planning, organizing ect. All of this comes at a personnel expense weather it be time away from work or family.
So rather then pitching in, doing your share it blows my mind that far too many do nothing while appearing to being doing something while B#$%^@#ing the whole time bring down the range which is trying to work toward something.
If you are not willing to do what the match asks re: work, being on time what ever act now Find somewhere else to shoot and stay there.
I'll pay to shoot - I won't pay to work![]()

so you will shoot and not work it<s ok with me but your score gonna be ZERO
so you can put an arbitration form if you want, so we will make a committee
and then you gonna loose you match fee 100$ , arbitration form 100$ and your score gonna be ZERO
so we (the arbitration committee) gonna spend all your hard earn money on BEER and Women
it<s easy if you want to shoot you need to work
or you shoot for ZERO
thank you come again!!!!!![]()

Now, re Quebec/Ont/etc shooters - given how fast it fills up, and how small (relatively speaking) it is, in terms of available slots, and the general lower number of matches in Quebec than Ont, I don't have a problem with something like opening the signup to PQ shooters a week before opening it up to everyone else, to give them a chance for head start. I don't know if there would be any ipsc rules which would oppose that, blah, blah, but I think that would be a perfectly reasonable way of doing it: those from PQ eager to go would be, almost, guaranteed a slot, but those who didn't care as much and didn't signup right away would have to compete against shooters from other sections/regions.
it's one thing for a PQ shooter to see the match get filled up with Ont shooters within 2 days of it becoming open: that would be "wrong", in my opinion.
But it's another thing for a PQ shooter to decide, a week before the match, that (s)he wants to shoot only to be told it's full, with lots of Ont shooters there... Nothing wrong with that... You snooze you lose...
Now Phil, you're a certified member of NROI, and a thoughtful official. You know very well that an arbitration fee does not go there. I'm sure you're just frustrated and kidding, but please don't insinuate this sort of thing. Arbitration Fees are serious, and their funds distribution is very clearly defined in NROI.so we (the arbitration committee) gonna spend all your hard earn money on BEER and Women

This is what you spend the money from matches on BEER and WOMEN.
And yet people can not understand why people are leaving this sport.
It is attitudes like this that is killing the sport.
Hmm
Humour-Foo is weak with many here.

I was waiting for the punchline Sean. I still vividly recall Lorne Rowe telling us during my CRO course so many moons ago what the arbitration fees normally were used for.![]()
