2008 Rem catalogue

I have owned a couple of 1-10" twist 6.5mm rifles. I found they stabilized most hunting bullets right up to 140 grains without any issues. One of them even worked well with the 139 Lapua Scenar out to 500 yards or so. But each rifle will exhibit slightly different characteristics. The 260 is a rather "mild" round, and since velocity does play a small part in the stabilization formula, it is hard to say what these rifles will be like. Time will tell, I'm sure. I like Remington rifles, I hope they didn't screw this fine little rifle up. Regards, Eagleye.

...and my 6.5 x 55 Swede 700 Classic is 1 in 8" twist......can Remington ever make up thier mind on anything?..........244-12" to 6mm 9"...and 280 to 7mm-06 to 7mm Express back to 280 flip-flop.......thier like Liberals.....

Those dudes at Remmington sure make some strange twist decisions. They are showing a 1-10 twist for the .280 as well this year. My Whelen has a 16 that should be a 12. I would love to have a .280 but with a 10 screw and not a 9-1/4 or 9-1/2, the long sleek high BC ###y 160 grain bullets that I would like to shoot might not stablize enough. That puts me back to building one and if I am going to lay out the coin to have one built might as well make it a 280 AI as cost for either would probably pretty close.

At least they still produce the 30-06 in a 10 twist
