Got to go out this morning for my first ever Antelope hunt. I managed to pop one at 200 yards after a 40 yard belly crawl to the crest of the knoll. It was a fun hunt as I ended up shooting with goats all around us looking from 15 yards away to the buck that was harvested at 200 ish. I was shooting my new Savage .243 with an A5 stock.
I ran it in to the taxidermist, after the CO's that I stopped to show them my buck, said that it was the biggest one that they had seen in the area. The taxidermist estimated it at over 80" but will call after it is scored officially. Now I might have to sell a rifle to pay for the mounting .....:runaway:

I will try to figure out the picture posting to let everyone check it out, I am pretty stoked.

There try that, I know its not proper as it is a link but.... anyone want to fix it go ahead, and let me know how to do it. The mains were just over 17 " , the prongs were 5.5", and it is thick all the way to the top.

Instead of copying the direct link, copy the image code.

Congrats.... I wish I had those close by. I am thinking about going on a hunt for these next year in Wyoming. I was looking at one in Alberta but they were around $5000...yikes.

Gotta post the mount when its done.

Wow 5000.oo mine cost me about 50.00 with tags, mind you the mount will be about 900.00 I guess I will still be ahead of the game

I just got back from Wyoming....Tag was $275 and trespass fee was $250. There was a TON of animals around...my son got his first ever animal...

Luftmech,
How many bucks did you pass up before you saw that bruiser?
We saw one opening day but he was on private land. He was a solid 16 at least but I don't think as heavy as that.
He was about #6 of the day and it took us to #50 at last light to find a 15 incher.

Nice job!

That was the first one of the day, I had been watching him since spring and one other that was bigger. We could not find the other one and the CO's told us that they had found an Antelope body with the head cut off the week before the season opened so I am guessing the bigger one was poached. we found another 12 - 15 bucks but nothing like this guy. There were allot of geese in the area as well making it tough to stalk through the fields that had 50 - 60 thousand snow geese bedded in.
