2009 Brown Bear Hunt x2 (Pics added)

Thanks guys.. I should mention that this was a mix of pics from both the spring and the Fall. Obviously the ones with the snow are from the spring.

The Pic of the bear lying on the boat is the one dad took.. All others are of my bear.

The pic of the valley is where I shot mine in the fall. TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT

The close up of the young bear is described in my story. If we had stuck around after that bear made a Bee line for the trees, I would have shot the "Goat" Killer. But we originally thought he had smelled us and had taken off.. Turns out he smelled the Goat killer coming out of the trees. DUHHHHH

The Goat Killer has 9 lives. Perhaps this year someone will get lucky.
I was told by a close friend who has hunted the world that the "Goat Killer" will always stick in my mind. He was right. I am still comfortable in not taking that shot and I am still a bit ashamed I wasn’t ready. But I rack it up to experience. I do know this much, with the high angle and that 375.. I would have ended up with one heck of “Scope Kiss” (Though that didn’t occur to me till later when it was pointed out by Burt)
He thinks I should have taken the shot just so he could have seen the damage caused. LOLOL Sick bugger.

I find that as time passes, I really want to go back again. But I have to wait 4 years to get another tag. And there are so many other fantastic places to visit. But a trip to the peninsula could be in order. That sounds like it can be a very tough hunt from a weather point of view.

I hunted with Baranof expeditions out of Sitka. I will tell you this much. After being on a few guided hunts and more than a few guided fishing trips, these guys have treated me the best by far. If you want to go chase BB from a boat I can’t see how it possibly could get any better. And please remember I was spouting about how great these guys were even after I was unsuccessful the first time.

Good luck
Jamie
