The dates aren't important to us. Just fix a date and we'll book the holidays. I would definitely like to extend the shoot this time. We could easily stay for up to a week and I'm hoping to shoot for at least 4 days.

We'll be bringing more than a few guns, just like last year. Here's a few pics.

This is a CZ527 American in .204 Ruger I bought recently just for the 2009 shoot. I have a ton of varmint grenade bullets to load. I'm thinking of bringing the press along. I'd kiss Wendy Cukier right on the lips if I could bring the Ruger Mark III pistol. This would be such amazing fun to shoot gophers with.

Here's a few more rifles that will definitely be coming along. From front to back: Jacquie's Ruger 10/22 (with a few more hop ups for the next shoot), my Savage 17HMR (amazing gopher gun), Jacquie's Remington 700 in .223, and my CZ.

Here's just a bit of the ammo we brought last year:

I'll be leaving the .243 at home this year as I found it to be too much gun for gophers. I much prefer lower recoil guns that allow you to see your shots through the scope. I'll likely bring the shotgun too. It was crazy fun hitting several squeaks at once, even with a full choke. I'm currently looking for a Ruger 10/22 for myself. I'd really like to find a Magnum Research model.

If I had to make one recommendation to anyone coming it is to bring a semi-auto .22 with lots of ammo. I picked up a 10/22 mag loader and a few 25 round mags. Last year we spent so much time loading mags that our fingers were raw.

I'm already looking forward to the 2009 shoot.

started my loading of .223 tonight, my plan is to load over 1,000 rounds this winter, have them stockpiled, and 5,250 rounds of cheap federal .22. and a case of 12 guage and a case of 20 guage target loads and we should be good. now if there was only some way to luanch the little pests into the air so we could shoot them like clays......
