Took this buck on Nov 7.....just after first light.

50 yards from a ladder stand....270win double lung...recovered him 20 yards from impact...150gr XP3

He was all rutted up already! note the swollen neck and his scent bags were dripping!

So far its been an amazing year with lots of great northern Alberta bucks going down...Im proud of this one

Good luck out there boys and girls!

Great deer!! Did you rattle him in? Lets here the story on him?

Cheers!!

Not much of a story here.

I have a ladder stand set up on our cleared fenceline to intercept deer as they jump from my land to the neighbors and vice-versa.

I got busted by a doe climbing into the stand that morning so I ended up just sitting there frozen to try and avoid her huffin at me and making a scene. We had a little stand off for what seemed like hours. Legal light hit so I pulled the rifle up and got one in the pipe. Less than a minute later, while the doe is still staring a hole through me, I hear the top fence wire twang to my right (doe on my left). I turn and see a massive bodied deer on my side of the fence. I saw the Split brow tine and knew right away it was a shooter as I had got this deer on my trail cam a couple days earlier. I spun to the right. Buck heard me and froze. Pounded him tight in behind his shoulder. He humped up and ran towards the trees and I heard him crash within 10 seconds. I gave him 15 minutes or so then climbed down and walked over to where he stood when I hit him. From there I could see him laying just inside the trees. Stone Dead.

Heres a coupld trail cam pics of him two day earlier.
