2010 BC Provincial Championships

Lots of opportunities to break 90 and sweeping. Stages #3, 10, 12, 13 and 16 comes to mind. I disliked stage #3 myself, pulling the tubes to one side of the range to the other. I made it through the match OK. Overall, I had a good time like always :).

Thank you for putting on the match Nick & Marcy.

I tried to take the tube slow and it was tough, I forgot how to count because the targets were kinda random feeling and the slap you got every time you shot in the tube...
Then I forgot the B zone and the paper targets off to the right.. took a kicking in points.

I ended up shooting 4th in production on stage 4. That made me happy..

Good idea.

Avoids getting stuck working a stage when you are scheduled to be shooting.

Nice :)

I hope it works out as good as I think it will.

Well it seemed like a good idea but in practise I found it was just too long a day. 16 stages and 340 odd rounds was just a little too much for me in one day. By about noon I was done but still had another 4 or so hours to go. Made for a tough day.

Same as working the stages all day. I found it was just too long.

Well now I know....for me, working half a day and shooting half a day is better.

The stages were very tough. Over lapping swingers, teeter totter swingers with no sweet spot, LOADS of 90 traps, some longer shots out 20m or so...very challenging....as a Provincial championship should be !

Unfortuately I saw a lot of DQ's as well. I worked Stages 9 and 10 on Sunday. 2nd shooter in the morning only made 4 shots and then had a ND as he moved across to the second position. His match lasted approx. 7 sec or so. Bummer.

On Stage 9 we had 2 guys draw their gun while facing uprange. One was a lefty who drew and then turned all the way to the right and managed to sweep pretty well everyone before he could be stopped. Fortunately it was a empty gun start, but still a little disconcerting.

Luckily when the new rules come in next year this won't be a problem as lefthanded holsters won't be allowed in IPSC anymore.

This was my first time shooting in Kelowna and it was great. The Kings and all the Kelowna crew -and Brian- deserve a big WELL DONE and thank you :D

It's not the lefthanded holsters,us lefty's are special!!LOL
I worked 15 and 16 sat and we had two DQ's for breaking 90.The one fellow started on those stages and his second stage of the day lasted about 4 seconds.

Well, the larger problem is the shooters that still adhere to the "1m circle" rule on the draw. There's just too much opportunity to break it. Far better to instead get in the habit of not drawing until you're facing downrange.

There were numerous 90 traps, but they were not a surprise, so anybody with half a brain knows to be careful when engaging those targets. Unfortunately, after baking our noodle in the sun for a full day before shooting, many of us lost the use of half of our brain, which left us woefully short.

The match was awesome with fun, challenging stages, but they were a bit too challenging given the parameters of the match. It is interesting to note that almost half of the DQ's came late on the Sunday, so it is possible that fatigue contributed to carelessness. However, several of the DQ's came early on the Saturday when people should have been at their freshest, so you draw your own conclusions.

I think the match was awesome! It was up to BC standards! I always look forward to this match! I think it was as challenging as any provincials should be... you want easy go to a fun match... that being said I think there was alot of carelessness (baked brains) on shooters behalf! I was working range 3, and on Sunday I probably gave out about 50-60 FTE's(no target CF's just ran past them or didn't run enough)!!!!!! but really over all great match great weather great friends! What more could a person want!! Thanks Nick and Marcy!!!!!
