2010 CFSAC Matches 1-4 Format- Perspectives? Reflections? Reactions?

Are bipods allowed? I might just sell my collection and buy one of those MG34 or Browning 1919 machine guns with big belts. Not mag changing and reloading. Just change the belt when it runs out 100 or 200 rounds later. :D

It would be awesome to see someone participate with a support weapon like that. :p

Hungry here: I carried a GPMG back when I was 21 years old and foolish. It's awfully heavy! :D

lol. That'd be sweet.

Thanks for the report Barney. Whenever I get my house more finished and the honey-do list at the new place is shorter I'm going to get out again. :)

OK, this leaves us with a few more days to sort-out our kit before this weekend's Connaught...

On the 'plus' side... I now have a rational answer for the girlfriend, next time she ask why in the world do I need so many magazines... It's for the CR match my dear :D

Why don't you bring her to one and get her shooting. I'm bringing my mom.

Alex, I'm working on that... and I've used your mom :D as a good excuse for her to come and blast a few rounds... if the weather is OK, she might come down on Sunday to be the cheerleader ;)

On a side note, how many rifle mags are you guys carrying for the CQB? I could have sworn I had a drop leg holster somewhere in the gear locker... But can't seem to find the darn thing. So I'll most likely be running a different setup on Sunday with a regular hip holster...

I finally chickened out and will be shooting an AR (borrowing a fellow gunnutz 16" midlength upper)...
However, i'll bring my M14 just to show it to you guys :)

Very cool Sniper1. looking forwrd to your seeing your M14.

I might end up shooting 5.56 one day just to save money on ammo. Maybe an accurized mini-14. Got to stay with the garand design you know.

We won't be there for the Sunday match, only Saturday's service rifle. Little schedule conflict...

oh and by the way...that " :D " ....had me going " " for a second.

Question for Hungry:

in short: can we use a different rifle/carbine on Sun (CQB) than on Sat (SR) ?

in long: do you consider the CQB match to be a separate entity than the Service Condition match ? I pretty sure the scoring will be keep separate (i.e. not summed up) between the two matches... so with respect to the spirit of the sport, is it normal/encouraged/discouraged/don't care, to swap of uppers or entire rifle between the two days ?
If you look at it from a military perspective; for standard infantry and most combat trades, your issued rifle is what you have and it's what you'll be doing every mission with. But there is also some specialized staff (like JTF-2 and whatnot) that can choose between C7, C8, mp5 depending on the mission...

I cannot see anything wrong between different boomsticks for the CQB matches AFTER the SR matches on Sat. Swapping uppers and entire rifle ? Let's do this... send an email message to the convenor and see what he says. We'll respect the chain of command that way! :D

Packing up the kit for the trip to Ottawa tonight (in my garage, I mean). Few more sleeps! :)

Cheers,
Barney

The link has a draft which has yet to be cleaned up and finalized.

The intent is to have a total HPS of 1000pts, so that each match is worth 250 points (250 x 4 = 1000). Each match therefore requires 50 rds for score, and some matches have sighters and some don't.

So,,
Match 1: 2 sighters and 50 rds for score: total of 52 rds
Match 2: 0 sighters and 50 rds for score: total of 50 rds.
Match 3: 2 sighters and 50 rds for score: total of 52 rds.
Match 4: 2 sighters and 50 rds for score: total of 52 rds.

That all adds up to 206 rds. Note that serial 5 and 6 of match 4 are to be deleted.

The ORA is allowing up to 5 sighters where the 2 sighters are allowed to help assist with getting a good zero,, so that adds another 9 rds for a total of 215.

On the info sheet that Tim sent us, it states 215 rds for the SR match.
but when i look at the course of fire in this link:
http://armyapp.forces.gc.ca/CAC/natmilskil_e.asp
and i sum up the rounds (matches 1-4); it gives me 226 !??

Can't wait for Match 3.2 with the monkey crawl and leopard crawl
Guess my 16 years experience in the infantry reserve will come in handy :D
Would be fun with low barb wire !

oh and BTW, the course of fire also indicates some "covers" and "barriers" ... will we have those also ?

Not avail at Connaught yet. Again, there is still a lot of work ahead for the new matches. In the mean time, they are to be shot without (ie. if avail then use them, if not, then don't sweat it).
