Ian mentioned a match in Chilliwack for next June and I did say I was planning to attend, just got to book holidays and drive out, carpool anyone?
Just some info regarding next year's Western Canada F-Class Championship:
Les began organizing the PGWDTI match independent of the desire on the part of the DCRA to begin holding regional championships. The DCRA sanctioned the match partly out of an issue surrounding the use of DND facilities, but this was les's baby and he did an outstanding job of it!!!!
His match meshed very nicely with our desire to hold regional matches, and rather than try and compete with Les's superb match, it was co-titled the Western Canadian F-Class Championship, and in a sense, we piggy-backed on all Les's (and the MPRA's) hard work.
I was acclaimed as the Coordinator for helping create such a match and the plan is we will be holding the second annual WCFCC in Chilliwack at the end of June. It will be at Vokes Range in Chilliwack BC and will be a 3 day shoot from 300-600M. This range has 25 targets, so we have considerable flexibility in numbers. It is close to "home" and I have the invaluable resources of Bob Pitcairn and the BCRA to help make this happen. The only issue right now is the fact that Alberta holds their provincial match thst same weekend, so I am hoping we can achieve some shuffling of dates on one end or the other to allow our excellent Alberta shooters a chance to come.
The plan will be to try and involve the APRA and the SPRA in taking a turn in hosting this match as well, but those details will be worked out about the time of next-year's match.
The WCFCC will also incorporate a team match as well, so hopefully it will encourage some inter-provincial competition, and maybe we can even talk the US chaps into coming up!
For those wanting to make the pilgimage, Vokes does have facilities for camping on the range. No power or hookups, but there is space. Furthermore, I will be hoping to arrange billets for those wishing to travel long distances. I certainly know how hotels can add up, so if we can organize some billets, that option may help it be more affordable.
We will have all sorts of information on the match in the coming months.
