There at last. Only took me 12 yrs to get back.
A trip to the range on the first day. They have a beautiful range out to 500meters.
The trip up to meet the floatplane. Sept 17. My daughter, Alex came for the trip as well. It's was something I always wanted to do with my Dad, but never did get to. I'm glad she came for the trip.
Our gracious and generous hosts, Ted (Why Not?) and Marg Wagner.
We travelled light!
Waiting for the charter.
Finally
The trip in
Setting up the Zodiac.
Kitchen shack. Only the best of food was served there.
Don't bug me!
The view in front of the tent.
To the west from camp.
East from camp.
Fishing and shore lunch. I think the fish cringe when the Wagners show up.
Set 19. We were laying around camp when I saw these across the lake. We are shown headed over in the zodiac while my daughter watched with the binocs. If you look across the lake, you'll see two bulls and three cows. I spotted these from camp while glassing.
I got the bigger of the two bulls. It measured 408 5/8" after deductions. 390" is the minimum for the B&C record book.
I think the trusty guide was happier than I was. We made a good team.
The exit throught the ribs. 270gr Barnes TSX from a 375 Chatfield-Taylor. Range was +/- 80yds. He went about 20ft after that landed on him, which saved a lot of packing had he gone inland. We estimated his weight to be close or over 600lbs.
Ted's very nice caribou. He took it with his very nice custom FN 9.3x62. We spotted it as we were making our last trip back to camp with the meat from mine. Two nice bulls in one day. We just pulled the guts and finished the dressing the next day.
Dressing Ted's bull out.
The meat pole.
Flying out.
