Saw my little friend that lives in one of my driveways yesterday. Tried to get a pic, but he was a little camera shy. The 80 klick wind probably helped send him back underground also.

Hopefully it isn't windy when it's snowing this July. I hate shooting in a blizzard. Except for DQ Blizzards of course.

how long do you plan on staying this year Andrewe if the weather is nice?

We'll be arriving Thursday or Friday and can stay at least the weekend. I suppose it depends on how fast the snow melts this year.

That road was crazy. all that slop filled up my rims and put my wheels out of balance on the highway.

What kind of ranges are most gophers shot at? How close can you get to them? I am trying to save up to get a new rifle in time for this and I am wondering what to get......and how far I will have to be able to shoot it? I think thinking of either an SKS, Savage Mark II in .22MAG or mabey looking for something used.

I have the most fun with my .22. We've also shot .17HMR, .204, .223, and .243. They're fun too but the shooting seems a lot slower. So my suggestion is to bring a .22 that you really enjoy shooting. A heavy barreled .223 would work very well as a centrefire gopher gun.

We tend to walk around with the .22s and lay prone with the centrefires.
