2011 CGN Saskatchewan Gopher Shoot primer thread. Starts over at post 538.

I'll be alone, so most likely just sleep/camp out of my van. I like to keep it as simple as possible. Definitely bringing some beer, and probably a bottle of Scotch.
Picked up a Henry .22 and an 870 that will be coming. Was going to get a .22 WMR, but forgot how cheap of guy I am
Also might bring out the .30 30 again, just for a few rounds, and see if the new magazine I got feeds a little better....

well, for shootables i'm bringing the .223, at least 1 .22, a 17HM2 perhaps the 6.5x55 and .358 Norma as well. for drinkables you will find my cmaper bar is stocked with Jim Beam of the white and yellow labels, some sort of Naval rum, a cheap mixing scotch, of course some various no name brand of rye, the list is endless, really.
We've been gearing up a little more every year and are always on the lookout for somthing to take to our annual redneck holiday. This year we bought a camper. It's pretty much identical to the old "Ikea" trailer but 45 years newer. Anyone interested can buy my old camper for $500 if they like. Makes an excellent hunting rig.
For boomsticks we're bringing a pair of CZ 452 22s, a Tikka in .223, a CZ 527 in .204 and probably a 12 guage. I'd really like to buy and bring one of those fold up shooting benches but I don't really want to have to lug the thing around. Laying prone in SK might introduce you to tiny little cacti that always go for the groin.

So....I am realizing that I am fast running out of time!! I still have almost 1000 rounds of .204 to load! The cases are all trimmed, prepped, and primed...just gotta add powder and seat bullets.

I would like to load more up.. but can't find any H335 powder here locally.. need some more cases & might be able to load up some 65g Btips.. got a load that uses varget, but not as accurate...
so got about 300 for 223, but I have between 2000 & 2500 for both the HMR & the .22 so I should be ok... can shoot just about as far with my HMR as my .223

Bring a snow shovel to clear enough snow away that the little pigs can get out of their holes, then sit back in your mittens and parka and have at em!!
Tox, I got some H335...at least half a pound you can have. I dont have a need for it!!

It is a smaller crown this year, too bad too because there was much more intrest from others who wanted to attend but because alot of guys claimed their spots I had to tell them no and now the others can't get the time off. If everyone on the list shows up there will still be about 20 heads out there and less cramming around the fire pit.

I also just noticed I am down to 2 pounds of the powder I need...good thing its almost payday!!
Wow, a little over 2 weeks to go. Started packing the camper yesterday, but the sun had me going out to practice. I think the gophers out here are blinded by the sun, they just sat there and were shot!! Plus, no-one shooting for the past weeks of rain has them a little less cagey.
The only thing is that I had to dip into my Tompkins ammo reserve.
