2011 CGN Saskatchewan gopher shoot. Thanks to everyone for coming!

Am I the only one not showing up till Friday? :(

I'm not going till friday either.
As far as loading goes I have tumbled my brass. I set aside wednsday night to load, and the wife aggreed to leave me alone long enough to get it all done.;-)
All I have to do to the trailer is to put the food and guns in. Packing shouldn't take long at all. Waiting is the hard part! I've been shooting gophers at work all weekend, but everyone else is there tomorrow, so I'll have to wait till next weeknd now...

I am going down there Friday morning, hopefully my Jeep behaves better than someone elses. Probably broke down cause it wasn't going to a soccer game like it was made to do.

Speaking of that, wasn't your Jeep the one that somehow managed to find a ditch? If I recall correct, you could have turned left or turned right but for some reason you went straight. And then your Jeep couldn't get out on it's own? Nah, couldn't have been your Jeep's fault......

But I do think it was an Ontario driver.

i'm counting on there being enough gophers to use up my 400 rnds of 222, so i have to do some fireside reloading. threw this together tonight out of scrap 2x6's, quite solid. will add powder measure stand and cupholder tomorrow

Should probably round off the corners so no one cracks their head open on it when they do down

We'll be out very late Friday night...midnight-ish if all goes well. Got MORE firewood today. I now have a 4x8 trailer with 4 foot sides piled a foot above the top of the box. All the scrap ends and bits from my firewood cutting project in garbage bags......63 year old hardwood school gym floor. All maple....I'm guessing it's dried fairly well by now. :D I'm pretty sure we'll get a couple of miles of visibility if we just pile it all and add a few gallons on gasoline. Maybe a nice round of night-trap ? I'll bring my shotgun. :D

Ok....Time to start getting the camping stuff together. I hope this place is fairly easy to find for a couple of exhausted newbies driving in the dark. Setting the tent up should be entertaining...never had it out of it's bag before ! LOL !

Ok so due to a break in on my truck we will 99% sure be taking a car can one of the locals let me know if the roads are alright for a car to pass and not get stuck. Thanks guys

As Captain mentioned, I went out for about 5 hours yesterday afternoon/evening, was a good breeze and threats of rain, but nothing too serious. Thus far I think we understand each other just fine. Captain and his wife shot down a few skeeters that were scouting us out...

Can't wait until wednesday night, I will be heading out after work so I don't imagine I will get any gophers at that point, but I suspect that I will be much entertained at the campfire nonetheless. Just gotta get that cooler from my parents and steal some o their firewood - they have some old cherry wood that burns roughly forever. That old gym floor sounds like a winner though!

I'll see you all again Thursday. I have to pick Princess up on the way so I'm not sure when we'll arrive. He did leave his rifles and ammo for me to haul down there. Sadly, he didn't drop off the 45/70. :(
