Hey out West just North of Calgary lots of cross oyotes red with blk saddles , blk faces etc and big some over 50 bls . Wolves periodically travel through so aside from breeding with domestic dogs ,wolf cross would account for the size . Bagged 52 last winter during calving season, they have become more of a problem than a sport

i was sitting in the work car last night while the partner was gassing it up outside of town, and a coyote came within about 20 feet of him from behind. he yelled at it and it took off, but man.. that's some balls.

Went out last saturday with somes guys with trained dogs, i missed a shot at 150y when i was surprised by that yote who wasn't even being chased... But finally that treeing walker drove it a second time in my line of fire, shot it under 50y with my .223.

I don't normally carry the camera around, shot about 20 coyotes so far this winter, 3 wolves. A couple of recent pics, since this thread is about coyotes, I threw in a token coyote :) :

I dumped this nice male while making a quick stand before I had to go into work on Friday morning. I was walking into my stand and see him trotting right in my direction. 40 yard shot with the .243 dropped him, the trouble started when he begin to spin and dissapeared out of sight. I thought to myself where the hell did he go. Not realizing he had rolled right off a vertical sand bank and landed 50 feet below I decided to pick him up on my way home that evening.

I took my brother out before dinner tonight and we made a quick stand. While walking to the blind I spot 2 coyotes looking for mice. They spot us about the same time and we quickly duck behind a large snow bank. I start up a series of howls and this guy starts barking right back. I played around with the coyotes for a few minutes and decided it was time to take him out. He was at 360 yards and I let a shot go. Not appearing to be hit but hearing a solid whack I decided to wait it out and let him bed down. I started up with a series of pup in distress hoping to call another in but no luck. I check my watch and see legal shooting time is quickly ending, so i toss my rifle in the the truck and we head out in search of blood.

I get on his track and confirm he was in fact hit so we start to trail him. In the process I break through the pond and end up balls deep in ice cold water. We keep pushing on and after roughly 400 yards I see him slowly hobbling through a bean field.

I was thinking to myself how to finish him off with no gun and also concerned with our safety. Long story short we ran him down and dispatched a snarling pissed off coyote with a nice piece of walnut.
