Finally decided to buy one of these with a factory rail as a end tour present for me.

I was wondering who else is on the order and what model they went with. Maybe we could post any news or updates in one thread.

Cant wait to get my hands on it.

I know there are a few other nutters that have them on order as i remember seeing some posting that they are on the list. Did you ever get to try one yet? i remember that you posted a wanting to try out a tavor thread for someone who had one in he london area a while back. I just got mine a few weeks back. it is a awesome piece of kit.

No I did not get to try one out due to pre-deploy training and all the running around I have done. The past couple of days has been pretty stressfull and I just said "what the hell" and just placed the order. I am sure I will like it. If not I am sure I can sell it quickly on the EE for what I paid.

Glad your enjoying yours!!!

I'm in a dilemna right now between the Tavor and the XCR. Non-res is the way to go for me cause the closest range is a 1 hour ride from home. I always wanted a Tavor but can't convince myself to throw almost 4 grand on a rifle that I never handled and never even seen in real. I could ask an Australian here (I'm in Kandahar too) if I could hold his AUG to see if I like the feeling of a bullpup but that's the closest that I will get to the feeling of a Tavor without buying one. The lack of accessories for the Tavor is also a turn-off for me. On the other hand, the XCR doesn't have as much "cool factor" as the Tavor but is a grand cheaper and will take most AR-15 accessories (grips,stocks...). Right now, I am leaning towards the XCR but I'm still not sure yet. Anyway, I have until july to make my decision :HR:.

While I have a Tavor on order, I own an XCR and I am tremendously happy with it.

Heheh

1. The Tavor feels nothing like the AUG other then maybe the weight balance being a little close.

2. The Tavor is a much further developed platform vice the XCR. In other words there has been a lot more R&D, practical use and actual military fielding in significant numbers. As a purely civilian platform the XCR is pretty neat too, trust my life to it I would not. $.02

lol honestly, I was in teh same boat as you in the beginning but the way I saw it was that the XCR was built by a smaller company and is more of a hobby gun than anything while the Tavor is actually a rifle issued in an army.

That being said, I decided to go with the tavor which im glad I did :D.

Have a look at the kel-tec RFB, less money, non-restricted, 7.62 NATO, pretty cool accessories available, forward ejecting, and they are well built. You can put one on hold at Wanstalls without a deposit, and should be around a few months after you get back.

hey where are you guys pre-ordering the tar-21 from? i've been looking for 1 for a while now..
thanks

Buy the rifle you'd enjoy the most. Don't think too much about practicality or military backing or whatever. Buy the gun that you think you'll enjoy putting on your back to carry at the start and finish of the day, because in the end that is the true measure of a gun to us civilians; not in practicality but in the joy that the discipline of shooting brings.

A dilemma... "What" dilemma??? Ask yourself WHICH of those two guns IS being fielded by a military force in constant conflict... What I can tell you about my Tavor is it feels right. With the weight to the rear in the bullpup configuration, it's extremely easy to hold & feels natural & well balanced.

My Tavor impressed me so much, I also bought a Kel-Tec RFB as it's big brother. Which reminds me, I've got some banking to do today... RFB should be here next week!!!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. STAY SAFE! And get on the order list with Canada Ammo so your new Tavor is here for you when you get back!

I know its a completely different rifle, I'm just saying the bullpup feeling should be about the same.

The RFB is a nice rifle too but it's just not the right gun for me. Ya see, I'm a little trigger happy and .308 is just too expensive + the lack of "hi-cap" mags...

That's exactly how I see it. I just want a nice black rifle for plinking, 100-200m benching and varmint extermination.

I totally agree with you but as I said, I'm not looking for a "home defense" rifle (got a Glock for that). In a perfect world, I would get both but I just can't justify 7000 bucks for 2 rifles that will do the exact same job. The only Tavor's cons are the 3600$ price tag, the bad trigger and the fact that they are all alike minus the rail, handguard and optics. The Tavor's shipping date is also unknown. I will have been waiting for 8 months to get out of that s**tty country, I just don't wanna have to wait even more to get my rifle when I get back home.;)

I'm still leaning towards the XCR. However my position could change after I handle the AUG...

Hi guys

I wonder if there is a difference beetween the first batch of Tavor that came in Canada and the others batch.

Thanks

originally when the tavor first came out the firing pins were free floating. after a few complaints of slam fires all tavors started coming with springs on the firing pins. all tavors that were already sold in canada got free springs in the mail so i am told. as for other changes, im not aware of any. but im not a tavor expert either.

When i was down in Australia i had the chance of shooting 200 rounds with one owned by a friend, this Tavor-21 is out of this world for realibility and accuracy, i was impress, just preorder one this week from Canammo... JP.

I'm a little spoiled. I have a Tavor, an RFB and an XCR. I love em all. The RFB will be my moose/elf gun, the XCR is in 6.8 so it's for deer and the Tavor I guess I use for 'yotes. Non-restricted is a major consideration in all my purchases.

Considerations I note:

1) Do you hunt? XCR in 6.8 or 7.62x39 or an RFB.
2) Volume shooting? The Tavor fits, but buying the 7.62x39 package for the XCR wins that.
3) Cool factor? Tavor or RFB. Though the XCR is pretty cool too.
4) Accuracy? All mine shoot well. Both the XCR and the Tavor are very accurate for me, and I think the RFB will require another 200 rounds or so to get there. None are bolt guns, people have to realize that.
5) SHTF? Honestly, I don't see this as a serious consideration. Yes, I'm all for Self Defence, and I think about it (in my case, from all my guns I'd take my 858 anyway...) but I don't think you should seriously consider this in most gun purchases.
6) Tavor Eye. Only the Tavor. Tavor eye sucks. I shouldn't have to duct tape a 3500 dollar rifle. I'm sorry, but this and only this is the reason I would slightly recommend either of the others just a bit more. And both are easier to clean in my opinion.

All that said, I love all 3, and wouldn't give up a single one.
