Thought I'd start a Manitoba WT harvest thread seeming how those Saskabush deer are so F'ing big.
Here's my 5X4 I got yesterday. 161 yards 150gr. sierra pro hunter out of my 8X63 swede. He dropped like the rug was pulled out from under his feet. Don't chase does. You'll live longer;)
When Cam and I skinned him out, we found an old wound through his belly just below the tender lions. the hide was healed and all guts were fine. Guess his luck ran out.

Congrats... nice deer.:D
Manitoba deer are to be kept secret.
Theres no such thing as a large whitetail east of Saskatchewan. You must have shot it at the border?..;) lol.

I've been hunting since the start of BP season....Seen a few does and little ones through BP season....only saw one spike buck..and he's in my freezer right now. short a few steaks I BBQ'ed up last night...VERY YUMMY and tender.

When the snow hit..that was it. Never seen any in daylight. And sunday at about 4:30pm somebody opened up the deer taps. My son seen 3 bucks and a doe..I seen (I'm guessing the same buck and doe together) and Cam seen a BIG buck (that got away). I was the only one to get lucky. Now we are back to seeing nothing. Was hoping my son would get his first this year.

There are deer around..they are just moving at night. This warm weather isn't doing us any favors either.

Shot a 5x5 on opening morning of rifle but that's basically all I've seen in 8 days of hunting. Saw a spiker and forkhorn buck together last weekend but had no shot. What's surprising me is in the area that I hunt there's a complete lack of does and fawns.

I was seeing about 10-15 every day on a farm west of Brandon. Only saw one nice buck but could not get the shot off. Took a 3-point that I passed up about 4 times before on Monday night. Will have to wait for next year for that big one.

I took a forkhorn buck towards the end of BP season. Went out a few times with the rifle tag but wasn't too worried about getting another, especially since the pop's are definitely down in my area (south central). Will likely make tag soup but I'm fine with that.

Whatz with all the Talk of now Deer this year?? i seen like 40 of them!!! no joke!!!
Hell Right as i am posting this i am Watching one outside Eating Out of a bird bath!

And i Shot 4 of them this year. (shot two for my dad.) Bp and Rifle.

LOTS! of BIG Bucks This Year!!!!

Besides 2 does than walked in 15 feet from me one nite, I haven't seen anything during daylight, but my cam was picking up a half dozen does and a few different bucks last week, mostly early evening until 2-3 in the morning. This week, my cam is only picking up one buck and one doe, but now around 6 - 8 in the a.m. Think I may write this season off, let them have their fun this year, and buy a muzzle loader for next year to get them before the rifle season puts the run on them.

Pretty much the same for us. Only we were on the road.

Yeah, I'm hoping the cold weather might get them moving.
Going out this week. Wish me luck.

My contibution this year,3x3 that came into rattling Nov.14.Deer numbers seem to be down in the interlake where I hunt.Seen 10 the 1st day and by day 3 couldn't even find a track, and my 1/4 is 100 acres bush.Trail cam pics were down this year also and the 2 mothering does I had on the cams only had single fawns this year.Compared to them both having twins last year. And Big Bucks this year........Well.....your looking at him.

I was skunked during muzzle, didn't see a single deer on land I had the right to hunt on. During rifle I managed to get a 4x3 buck, once again, the only deer I saw on land I had permission or right to hunt on. Either numbers are down, or they aren't moving out into the fields owing to the weather, or both.

I only saw 1 doe while hunting this year, early in the muzzleloader season.
Funny thing was she had a nice 4x4 nosing her tail, on Oct 18.

When I was out shed hunting the area in the late winter/early spring of this year, I found 4 wolf kills in one day.

Seeing those lovely Manitoba bucks brings back many fond memories. Back in the 1990's me and the boys would drive from eastern Ontario 3rd week of November to hunt near Virden. A wonderful family in Miniota let us hunt their farm on the Assiniboine river(excuse spelling). Bad winters in 96' and 97' sure took its toll. Man those were good times.
