I was at our yearly meeting for the hunt camps in Algonquin Park and the prez for the hunt camp association is also on the North Hastings Elk restoration project committee and he told everyone at the meeting that there will be an Ontario elk hunt in 2011.Don't know how much tags will be,when or where in Ontario but from what he said it's a go for sure.I would think it will be a bulls only hunt but who know's ?.He said the elk heard is doing fine and the hunt was to start in 2012 but it's going to be 2011.
Anyone else heard this as well ?.

The Elk have been a pain in the A$$ since they were reintroduced to the Bancroft area.
Farmers are having major problems with them in there crops and fences most can be hand fed.
Should be a hard hunt, find one on someones lawn and walk up with an apple in one hand and a knife in the other.
I hope they kill them all.

lol. Grouch. How much damage have they personally caused you/your family for you to have such hatred towards them?

There's been one hanging around Kingston Mills since last summer. Last I heard he still has his rack too...

There are the OFAH recommendations listed in OOD - page 15 of the Angler & Hunter Hotline.

- Parties of up to 4 per tag
- No firearm restrictions (BOW OR GUN)
- Bulls only
- Etc.

Gee - our group pisses away close to $750 per year with no success in WMU 57 on moose tags (we see plenty but the MNR claims there are few moose). I can only imagine what this will cost, but the rumor is $100 per applicant!

If there is truth to what the OP heard I can only imagine the shenanigans that will take place regarding tags and draws. I think is tags are issued at all in the near future it they will number in the single digits. On the bright side maybe the draw money can be channeled back into the Elk program and we will see more elk in more places, however seeing how the elk program has worked I doubt it.
