2011 ORA Service Rifle & Service CQB Schedule and Info

I am in for 1 of them at least

Storage on base
@ Miraclejoe: I think you can store them in barracks and if not in your vehicle. I am also living out of their for the summer and am going to bring all my guns and lock them in my truck. (If i get one...) Alos if not sure call the base MP's It is base policy as well but could not hurt to ask.

Fr the Fee do military members pay the 50$ or 25$ fee? Cause i am going to one at least this summer seeing as i am thier all summer I may as well have some fun. And any money i save goes to ammo or another shoot the next month.

Ranger-Scout:

Military shooters pay the ORA member fee, lower rate. Welcome to shooting with us (the ORA). :D

Now you get to play with us in our matches :ar15:

Cheers,
Barney

I'm shooting restricted ARs, so storing them in my car, (even if I did bring it over) is not an option. Not sure about the base policy, but typicaly it is forbiden for members to store firearms in the shacks while on course. And as far as calling the base MPs, well lets just say I will be spending a lot of time around them this summer... LOL

MPs use to let transients lock up their personal firearms in the base det gun vault, but this has been discontinued. They might do it for me, but frankly I would rather avoid my CoC being involved at all, if possible.

Is the 'membership' rate for the shoots for ORA membership, or for range membership?

The membership rate is for ORA members. Non-members pay the entry fee AND the daily guest fee as set by the ORA Executive. Join the ORA and you will save yourself some $$ after the first four or 5 CQB matches. And then there is the Service Rifle game....

We are the ONLY (at this point I believe) Provincial Rifle Association running the CFSAC matches.

Start preparing your magazines right now. Label them with yer callsign (handle/name) and number them so that you can identify any suspect magazines BEFORE the season gets started. Timk and I just giggle when we see you farting around with your jamming magazines because you only stressed them (on the bench) at your home gun club! :nest:

It's a different  set of circumstances and stresses you put the magazines through here at the CQB clinic and matches from your home range; Where everything seemed to work fine... that's what we hear from the newbsticks when they come to our matches! :D

Cheers,
Barney

Just unwrapped 10x 5/20 M14 mags that will be getting 'stressed out' this weekend. If there is one in the bunch that gives me trouble I'll kick myself for not ordering a spare.

What is the format for the plinking date on March 19th (snow permitting). Is it just general shooting/zeroing/plinking or will there be some organized drills/practice?

All depends who/what / weather ! All depends on what people can agree on. The venerable Timk is running that practice on 19th March. I'm in Ottawa for my last M14 clinic this spring! ;)

So do show up and get ready to come out and have some fun, network with our CGN / ORA members! All good times! :D

Cheers,
Barney

I just got on board for the SR and CQB Clinics.
It's going to be crowded Boys and Girls!
Book now and avoid the rush!

As Sean Connery said: " Yeash...Yeaash"

Yes 10/22 would be fine, I used one for my first season :D

Only two drawbacks. You have to pick up the casings (hard to find) and your score will be counted for honors (can't place)

I am considering these sessions potentially......

May 14 – 15, SR 1, Connaught range
June 11 – 12, SR 3, Connaught range
Aug 6 – 7, SR 6, Connaught range

Barney, can you send me an invite letter for the match on the 16th?

And let me know who to send the entry fee to, or if I can pay when I get there.

Ah the smell of cordite is in the air, it must be spring!

I'm aiming for April 16th. I'm actually off that weekend, it must be a sign.
