2012 Member Saskatchewan Gopher Shoot.

Why do I get excited about the shoot so damn early? Every year I start planning things just after Christmas yet I only start doing the reloading the week before I leave. Sometimes I even get to the range and sight in a rifle or two.

Only took a pic of the first one. But then I've only shot 11 so far. Mind you I really haven't tried to hard yet…:D

I just started seeing them here today, saw 3 on the road, and while I was putting up a satellite dish my customer comes tearing out of the house with an old bolt action 22 and picks off a gopher maybe 50 yards away on his yard. Awesome. We both had a good laugh about it. This weekend I plan on going for a cruise with my 17.

Seeing quite a few more these last few days. Today I found a sweet spot to shoot em on the way to this guys house, I was putting up a dish for him. Turns out he's into guns, does lots of his own customs in his basement using milsurp recievers. After I finished he showed me around a bit. This guy was all about big rounds. Had a real nice 338 lapua mag, 577 ne, and something he had built from a reduced 50 cal bmg case. Then, icing on the cake, nailed a gopher on the way out of his driveway!
 
Had a few hours to kill this afternoon (pun fully intended!) so I took a drive through the pastures of one of the ranches near my plant.
Managed to wack 29 more for a total of 50 so far.
Can't wait till it get fast paced enough that I can't keep track anymore.

Pretty sure the 10/22 is dialed in enough for the rest of he summer. Think I'll take the old .22 mag with tommorow. The "pop" on a gopher is just so much more satisfying!:D

Bah. I haven't even so much as seen one in the muck here yet.

I hate spring some days. Maybe I'll hang some targets tomorrow and pretend they're gophers.
 
It looks like I won't be able to make it, so someone else can have my spot. Hopefully, I'll see you all next year.
