2012 Red stag

Gday, was lucky enough to get onto some Red deer this year, was very exciting an something different to the fallow which ive been harrasing for the last 3 weeks waiting for this rut.

anywho heres a few photos of my first red, 10 point model, very happy- i used my Rem700 270win with factory 140gr Accubonds from about 100 odd.

I was being stalked by a wild dog, when i froze an noticed it run off behind me, this put the wind up me an i decided i will let out a ROAR to hopefulyl scare the dog off somewhat, turns out couple Red deer down in the creek system belowed out back.. an it was on.

Nice!!! Love seeing the dog in your pic! I used my Drahthaar to blood track a wounded deer last rifle season. Wouldn't have recovered the deer without him!

Very nice stag, but come on, there's no way you killed that with a 270! Guys here have been posting for years that 270 bullets just bounce off big game.

Yeah i live in the bush (small town) so my appearance doesnt always look prim an proper but im a hillbilly so it works!

The dog is a GWP, german wirehair pointer aka draahter or something.. he is gettin better, miminal training but alot of hours in the bush over the last 3 years.. i think after this winter he will be a great huntin mate!

unfortunatley, The little .277 140gr Accubond Winchester Supreme did pull down such an Animal, One shot behind the shoulder but a little high to connect the heart, it went down about -20m from the shot... !
