2012 Team Hoser 3-Gun Challenge

I think that is awesome...I like the idea of SKS multigun shooters enjoying and developing their class instead of the SKS being viewed kind of as a "gateway gun". This way more SKS owners will get involved and then it won't be so easy for the Cmiller and the Mississaugagunnut types to place in the top 2 ;)

At my club this was suggested by someone but I thought having a division for one specific model of gun to be overkill. And even then there's guys with detachable mags, so then the guys with stock rifles would still call "no fair."

Plus, as much as I want more shooters, tailoring the match to a "minute of pie plate" gun was not overly appealing to me. I sometimes put up clays at 100 yards and I could see someone with an SKS and open sights taking forever to get the hit.

When...?

I haven't seen you guys host a match since jesus was a cowboy...

I thought the last match at Galt was when Jesus' dog was a puppy?:p

Jarlath RO's every Tuesday night and many times he doesn't fire a single shot; it may only be club level but it is appreciated by the folks who come out every Tuesday!

Jarlath also runs the CDP course at Galt so between every Tuesday night, the 1.5 day CDP course every 6-8 weeks, plus his CSSA work, I'm guessing a family man can feel stretched. The good news is at Galt SC the handgun section is growing, interest in ODPL is growing, and newer guys like me are willing to put their shoulder to the wheel and help put on some matches. I don't have the experience to design or set up a match but I can staple cardboard, set up plates, and tear down stages with the best of em'!

Runningfool that is the spirit we need for action shooting. I have seen jarlath run matchs by himself and that is a tall order. helping set up and tearing down is what all clubs need and want. Good luck to Galt and hope to see them set up more matchs

I used my SKS because I don't own an AR. I did not expect a class, or any special rules to make up for my "disadvantage".

I have no real incentive to get an AR either. There is no prize money (not a complaint) and nothing is on the line but bragging rights.

I had a ton of fun, and I'm hooked... you can expect me at every match in future, still shooting my SKS, reloading with stripper clips, and using my 20ga 870. Those are my tools and I'm learning how to use them. Put me in whatever class you want, I'll still show up.

I could not have said it better Cmiller. I enter these competitions to sharpen my skills and to have fun. The fact that the VZ uses such cheap ammo lets me practice way more than if I were using 223.
Besides, with the AR guys always Tapping and racking my 5rd. limit really doesn't handicap me. Now if I could only hit the targets. LOL

As Runningfool stated Every week I'm doing Tuesdays ODPL night at Galt. Lots of new blood and they are going out to your matches.

That being said. Galt's Handgun match is planned for August 18th, I needed to get the new guys up to speed and some experience in doing RO duties, (The old crew average age was nearing 60 including myself in that). Thankfully I have 7-8 regulars who are eager and willing to help out as much as they can.

Planning on 4-6 stages.
