2013 & 2017 F-Class World Championships

Yes, they are a few years out, but some folk will always say they didn’t get enuf notice!

About every four years or so the F-Class World Championships (FCWC) are held. In 2009, the venue was Bisley UK, with the 2013 FCWC to be held at the NRA Whittington Center outside of Raton NM and the 2017 FCWC at the DCRA Connaught Rifle Range outside of Ottawa ON. The 2021 FCWC is rumoured to be Australia, but that won’t be nailed down for a while. Rules for the conduct for these international events are to be found at the following website, but the Canadian DCRA rules are very close (don’t sweat it). http://icfra.com/

The FCWC is two days of individual long range shooting to determine individual champions, followed by two days of team shooting, and you’ll likely see competitors coming from 12+ countries. In 2009, we fielded a Canadian F-TR team to Bisley and the F-TR and F-O teams are currently being selected for the 2013 Canadian team to Raton.

Teams and individual shooters need a couple of years to develop, so the purpose of this post is to get folks thinking about the upcoming competitions in the 2012 shooting year, and if you’re interested, please start competing on a regular basis at your Provincial Rifle Association matches and larger matches, such as the Western or Eastern Canada Regional Matches, or internationally (the USA F-Class Nationals were in Lodi WI this year and will be at Raton NM the next two years). Team selection is based upon known shooters that are able to work within a team environment, so getting out to matches certainly helps get you noticed!

Give it some thought – we’ve got some damn fine shooters here in Canada, both at the individual and the team level. Hope to see more of you out at the ranges next year, especially at Raton the next two years!

Definitely interested in making a go of this. Glad I've got a few years to get my A game on.

Learned a tonne at the Eastern Can Champs this year...looking forward to more good training/learning/experience next year.
