2013 Berger Southwest Nationals Phoenix - results

Nice going Jim, we can always count on you for some great pictures and a good story told. Some of us were a little under prepared for this great match, and we sure paid the price but a little mid winter practice well needed. The weather was also much better than it was in Alberta.
Cheers
Eric

I am not into F-Class. I shoot SR BR. There is one thing that I will agree on when going to these BIG shoots in the US, the knowledge and expertise that is there is unbelievable. Whether one competes or not the knowledge one can gain about shooting is mind boggling. You learn so much faster when at these matches.

I can go on and on.

WTH happened with all the DNF's Les?

Thanks for the post Jim.....much appreciated to see it for those of us who couldn't make it this year......but I plan on being there next year so tell Gerry to save me some floor real estate for my sleeping bag. :D

I had severe ammo problems so i packed it in and went cycling instead.

Coming to Phoenix was a wasted trip as far as shooting went but the bike rides were fantastic. Going on one more 40-50 mile long ride tomorrow, then heading north on Friday.

What do you mean by "SEVERE ammo problems"???????????? It seems like a long way to go and then pack it in.

looks like a fun time! A great looking range for F-class shooting.

You have NO idea of how big a facility it is. All I know is when I retire, I still have my health, and Ben Avery is still in existance, I will be spending my winters in the Phoenix area.

How can one get bored on the LARGEST public shooting range in the USA? 1650 acres of PURE bliss.

Calvin, Phoenix is definitely warning in the winter, Raton gets snow and is really high up, around 6800 ft. I've seen it colder there this year than at's been here in Sask some days LOL.

This year at Ben Avery was a lot different than last year. One morning shooters were putting on insulated coveralls to shoot. I ended up with my hoody, medium jacket and insulated leather gloves on at least one morning and didn't take the hoody off all day. The group picture we took was after everyone shed their sweaters or hoodys, it really was not all that warm. If you decide to go next Feb don't leave all your warm wear behind there is always a possiblity of repeat conditions. Still an excellent time and no one complains when you shoot in February.

Look at the picture of the guy in the van, he is wearing a parka.

Was scoping out the scores a bit more. Mr GW - that is some fine shooting sir.

I see a couple of "MW's" beside your name. AWESOME. You'll have to show us the hardware at the Westerns

I am sure there is a good reason for the first time at 1000yds but that got resolved. Way to keep in the fight and post some great shooting scores.

Jerry

Excellent job guys! Awesome shooting as always. Hopefully I can pull my life together enough and soon enough to make it down next year.
