Thanks Paul. Barry and I have been hard at work, but we're in the home stretch and things are really starting to come together.

A couple of notes for those attending:

I'm very happy to announce that Sinclair has just recently signed on as an event sponsor, which we very much appreciate.

I should also say a word of thanks to our sponsors, who have really been overwhelming in their generosity. Special thanks to Paul Bawden, Peter @ Hirsch Precision, Fred & Tessa @ Star Shooter, Jerry @ Mystic Precision, Sean @ North Shore Barrels, and Jennifer & Bryan Litz @ Applied Ballistics. A few of our sponsors will be setting up shop at the event (Paul Bawden & Star Shooter are confirmed) so make sure to bring some extra spending money and support those who help make events lilke this possible.

We're looking forward to a great shoot! Thanks to all those who are coming, and as always please let me know if you've got any questions/concerns.

Scott

Hey FTR Rookie,

Any way you could ask the competitors to fill out a short survey about the equipment that they used?
Calibre, bullet, bullet weight, barrel length and twist, acton, what rest or bipod they used, what stock, what scope, what type of brass, neck turned or not, primer, powder etc.

This might be a great help to those that are looking at getting into the game and seeing what everyone is using.

Hi Paul,

I am not jumping to F Class. However if I did, I would just throw a Bushnell Banner on my HHE CG Millennium rifle and have at it:p. I also have a Wichita and heaven forbid a Musgrave that could be made to work for F Class.

I just thought others may be interested in what equipment is being used. How many Barnard's, RPA's, Remington's, Stolle's, Bat's, PGW etc are on the line. This might also help new shooters decide what scope or rest to go with. Or if they should go to F-O or F-TR to start with.

My bet is top F-TR shooter won't be that far off the pace of the top F-O shooter. Heck you never know, maybe an F-TR shooter will win the whole thing.

Tom any of your fine actions could be at top of F class competitions in open class or F/TR . and with your experience reading wind, you would be in with the top shooters.
Its already happened The F/TR beating the open rifles at Connaughts Victoria day weekend F/TR winner had a grand agg score of 518 with 51 v bulls top Open shooter 510 with 38 V bulls.
As for equipment list of all shooters would be nice to see for everyone, I will work with Scott & Barry and see if we can get it done.
Tom don't hold your breath hoping to see a Bushnell Banner as scope of choice for F class shooters' I am thinking you will have to put your Banner on EE boards at step up a little in Optics.
Jonathon who did the great shooting winning F/TR was using a March 80x I was shooting with him and he could see his bullet holes at 600m in the black only thing the March cost him north of $3500

Paul, I think a 4X Bushnell Banner would be a big improvement over my iron sights lol. Maybe in 20 years or so I might think about making the move to F-Class.

*** NOTICE TO COMPETITORS ***

Over the last few regional and national F-Class competitions there have been a few rule and safety issues that have come up, which have recently been addressed by ICFRA and/or DCRA:

1 – Spikes/feet in bipods and rests: According to ICFRA rules the only rests that may have spikes are either the bipod (F-TR) or front rest (F-Open). The spikes may not exceed 50mm in length, and are limited to 2 for a bipod, and 3 for a front rest. The rear bag must not have any spikes, nor may it be attached to, or placed within any object that includes spikes. PodClaws are deemed to be acceptable.

2- Ammunition Pressures: Safety must be the foremost concern on any firing line, and this extends to ammunition as well. We will be asking ALL competitors to sign a waiver indicating that their ammunition has been tested and deemed safe before issuing match tickets. During the event the Range Officer will be looking for any obvious signs of high pressure, including flattened or popped primers, and difficult bolt lift. If the RO suspects that a competitor’s ammunition may be unsafe they can ask that individual to leave the line until such time as the ammunition can be checked and deemed to be safe to fire. It is expected of all competitors that any observed instances of excessive pressures be reported to the RO immediately for investigation.

Both of these rules will be enforced at the upcoming Eastern Regionals, and we ask that our competitors take any required steps to ensure their compliance.

*** FRIDAY PRACTICE SESSION ***

Please note that due to both weather and some scheduling issues with DND that there is a good possibility that we will not be able to hold the planned practice session and smallest group shoot tomorrow evening. We are doing everything in our power to retain access to the range tomorrow night, but it simply may not be possible, even if the weather allows for it. There will be a 2 min sight-in/blow off in advance of each relay at 700m on Saturday morning to ensure everyone has an opportunity to get their barrels fouled up and their elevation figured out. The event registration and weigh in will still be happening at the NCRRA clubhouse, likely until about 8PM.

Sorry for the late notice.

Scott
