2013 Norinco M305 issues

Don't know if you found it already, but Chalkriver was kind enough to post a pic in the Test After Assembly sticky:

If the new trigger guard is the problematic one, why not shave material off of it instead of the stock?
Otherwise, won't your other M305 trigger group be too loose in the USGI stock?

Thanks for sharing the pic. I actually ended up taking a bit too much material off under the 'wings'. Been juggling the norc and rebuilding my pc (water pump failed ) so I've been admittedly a little impatient the last few days. Oh well, no big deal. I think I'll just build it back up with a bit of JB weld or resin and redo it. Can't really do that with the trigger guard I figure ;). The fiberglass is quite a bit easier to work with!

By your first pic it looks like your barrel is over indexed thus your front sight being off angled.

Maybe just a bit, but I'll see when I get a USGI fh on it. I prefer the usgi front blades anyway. Seems the chinese ones are a little fat.

Thanks for posting the close up pics Dling.
I actually have one of these on order, so I was curious what to expect from current availability.
As you said, it does look like an improvement over others of the past.

I also have an LRB but the way I have it configured is much too heavy for carrying in the woods, so I thought a Norc would be fine for that.
I hope mine looks comparable to yours when it arrives.

No problem. Good luck with your rifle!

Thanks for posting pics of your new 2013. I really like the Cal. 7.62mm instead of .308Win, about time these rifles were stamped properly.

No problem. I felt the same way. I find it sounds a little better for the cool factor, don't ask why :D. Now if they'll learn to stamp it on the heal we'll be all set...

Anyway, I seem to have also fixed my op-rod spring guide alignment for the most part so I think I'm heading in the right direction. There's going to be screw ups along the way since I've only been a gun owner for less than a year, but it sure as heck is fun learning to do this stuff! :D I'll try to get pictures up on the magazines once I get around to cleaning them. So far on initial inspection I'm guessing there's a stop welded to the bottom of the follower on the 20 rounder and for some odd reason there's a pop rivet on my 5 rnd magazine

huh??

does it actually stick out the bottom of the stock when inserted or does it sit more or less flush?

It sticks out of the magazine like it would a 20 rnder that's been pinned (out of the back, just above the floor plate in this case). Haven't tried it in a rifle yet.

Quick photo:

if that rivet abuts the mag release, that 5 rd mag may be a pain in the butt to remove from the rifle

I seem to be one of the lucky guys with the 2012 M305 good indexing fairly tight op-rod I have the mage that are blocked not pinned and they are smooth in feeding... the only problem I have had was the the dust plate or spring plate on the rear sight was so out of wack it would never hold a sight line at all it took me seven days to pound it in to the shape it should be... Now it has that battered "Nam" look so I am just going to paint a scull and cross bones or a happy face, something like that.

Okay, finally got out with my rifle today. Worked as it needed to. Groupings weren't the greatest but was probably just me with my wonky shooting eye. The gas band lip doesn't sit on the front ferrule either like it's suppose to on my usgi stock so I suppose it might need some bedding to get the angle of the dangle right. Forgot to try the 5 round magazine today, but my 20 round seemed to function quite well. Over all, I'm quite happy with the rifle. :D
