2013 ORA Service SR & CQB Schedule and Info

Any chance we could see smaller scale "intro" events run for new shooters? Not scored over the year, but events to introduce shooters to the ORA CQB program on a weekend or daily basis?

That really is the clinics but they filled up quick!

I'd advise simply coming to visit on a match day, show up after anytime after 8am and there will be a ton of people to introduce you to the sport. Bring a couple of lawn chairs an relax and enjoy the fun... though you might spend all your time walking around chatting!

Cheers

Not to step on Thorvald's toes here but you can also just come to a match and participate. There is a "dry" run in the morning anyway that is great for new shooters. It gives the basics for the match so you sort of know what to expect and can participate safely and have some fun.

That's what I did my first time and it worked out great. We often have newbies show up at matches. The people who come to watch often end up saying "Darn, I should have just signed up".

Now, if you can't get in because a match is booked solid, watching is not a bad idea. Just make sure you are on the range in time for the safety briefing or you will not be able to hang around. The safety briefing applies to all on the range, not just the competitors.

Awesome, thanks guys! A couple of other shooters I know were also looking at getting involved in CQB this year... We'll be there to observe at the least.

What's the difference between "Service CQB" and "Service Rifle"?

bacardi:

Service CQB is inside 35m distances and closer. Service rifle incorporates "some" CQB and then 100m to 500m distances. All use "snaps" , "rapid fire", and "run down" or run - then - fire .....

Have a look at this video from 2011.... Gotta see if the Youtube vid link works....

SERVICE CQB CLINIC
Date: Apr 20 - 21
Location : At Barriefiled Range, CFB Kingston
Time : 0730 – 1600
Entry fee: $100 members, $150 non members.
Clinic will be a condensed combination of CQB clinics 1, 2, 3 and a full match.

So....the difference between the Service CQB clinic at Langemark Range and Barriefield range is the one on Barriefield range is condensed combination of multiple CQB clinics and a full match? and the one on Langemark range are held for several days?
Why there are days packages under Service CQB clinic at Langemark Range, and there aren't on Barriefield Range? Does it mean you can buy multiple day passes that can be used to attend different or same clinics?

CQB and SR Clinic 1, Carbine Ammo: 300 rds
Are the rounds number at the end represents how many rounds we need to bring on that particular clinic?

SERVICE CQB MATCHES
Location : Langemark Range, CFB Borden or Barriefiled range, CFB Kingston
Time : 0730 - 1500
Entry fee: $20 members, $50 non members.

Can one of the day passes that we purchase be used toward a match? Or, do you have to pay a separate entry fee? Noticed that there are fees schedule at the very top, but there is another fee here?? I am confused.

2012 rule sheet aval on request.
How can I request this?

The info is not newbie friendly, and it can be very confusing. :(

Bacardi

You are confusing clinics and matches.....and confusing clinics at Borden with the Clinic being run in Kingston. There are a total of 5 Service Conditions clinic dates for Borden (CQB 1/ SR1, CQB2, CQB3, SR2, SR3) but only a single two day clinic at Kingston at it is for CQB only.

The fees for the clinics at Borden are for the Clinics at Borden only. The fees for Kingston are for Kingston. The fees for clinics are for clinics and do not apply for match events.

Ammo: Yes, that is the ammo requirement for the clinic.

Rules Sheet: Contact the MD. You have been given his contact information by PM. It would probably make sense to actually get on the standby list for a match at least first.

As for the information being confusing and not friendly to newbies: slow down and read it a few times. It is a big program so there is necessarily a lot of information and if you try to take it all in at a glance it can be a lot. Feel free to post question here or to me by PM to get clarifications.
