2013 Spring Turkey!!!

My 2013 Tom. Won't likely go out for a 2nd, just way to busy.

Weighed 20lbs 5 oz on my Berkley digital fish scale, spurs around 1 3/16 or so, 8 1/2 inch beard. A nice avg bird that I missed once and was able to get a second chance on a week later.

Got my first bird on the 10th. 4 Jakes and a Tom cam running through the field to the calls and decoys. The tom hung back and let the jakes investigate... I wanted the sure thing so I went for one of the jakes.
15.9lbs on the scale. Can't wait to taste him after he is done in the deep fryer!

fishkinger,
I added pics as requested. I think I got the measurements right. You'll have to take my word for the weight, I used a digital luggage scale.
Regardless its a pretty sweet bird.

I wish I could go turkey hunting as it looks fun and I' msure they taste great! There's lots of turkeys up here but they're the human kind! HAHA.

p.s. I heard geese today ... so I'll be shooting birds here real soon ... ;)

Actually jon gun, almost quite the opposite unfortunately. I hammered him at 35-40Y, he buckled over and hit the ground, I was sure he was done. Then he stood back up and started to fly away, I sent another, it wasn't the best shot as I was prone and shooting through a hole in a fence. I jumped up and over the fence and took off after him. I found him 150M away. The last shot was the "humane" one at about 2ft.

Certainly not the way I would have prefered it to go down.

Poultry trumps poetry, you got the job done that's what matters, congrats on your second bird!
