Well I had to work for them this season, Doe and a buck fawn.

Nice, Just like Lipping some Bass....

And this is this year's buck and doe.

ETA:
I had 18 days off for hunting, 31 Oct-17 Nov. Used all of them except for Sundays. Saw ONE doe and while stalking to it, my step-son (arrived from Sarnia, ON Oct 31) coughed and sneezed at the same time, he may also have shat himself, I am not sure, just that the doe took off at a dead run.

Anyway, I went back to work yesterday, work ends 3:30. Ran home, grabbed step-son to drop off at school (night classes), grabbed my gear, hit a "gimme" field (usually where I take newbies to get them wet since it is more like shooting and not hunting, but I needed the up). As I enter it, it is empty. I start across it in the truck to a spot closer to where I plan to get out and set up and a doe comes romping into the field, looking behind her, and out comes this big buck!! Nose buried in the ground. 200yds away. I stop the truck and get out, rifle still in case behind the seat, totally not ready and the doe gets skittish. I walk around the truck to the far side of it so she can't see so much. Take out the rifle and my seat cushion, intending to shoot off the hood. She has had enough and blots for the woodline. The buck is oblivious, follows along but moving fast. Doe is gone into the woodline. 360yds now. I sound a fawn bleat and he stops and looks up, below and slightly quartering away. Bang!! I see him fall, before I can finish cycling the bolt he is up and over the fence into the woods. I go look, no hair, no blood, but I KNOW I hit him. Not to be put off, I cross the fence on what I believe is his trail. 25 feet along, I see where he has blown out a bunch of blood, you know. I now know I have him.
I went back to the truck, changed out of my work clothes (uniform) into hunting clothes. 20mins have gone by so I start tracking. 50yds in, BOOM he is up and GONE! Go back to truck, wait some more. I did this 4 times!! I shot him at 4:45. I found him at 8!! Like this!!

So, I went back out the 6-700 m to the truck to get the rifle and my wife who had brought my toboggan, 'cuz this was ROUGH country and I knew he was a big boy!!

Got back at 9 and he was dead!! My wife said, "He's bigger than you!!" So I laid down on him, legs and arms to match him, and...he WAS!!! And I am 6'2" and 225lbs.

Took an hour for us to gut and haul out to the truck. I have a 5' Pelican toboggan and he would not fit in it, his head and antlers (never big in this area, lack of minerals, I think) hung up all the way out. I have no idea how he managed to live for 3 hours. One lung GONE, the other half gone, exit blew out his shoulder and tore up the brisket, body cavity filled with blood.

Feeling better now. Not skunked and the biggest whitetail buck of my life!

After 4x seasons in the bush without firing a shot, I get my first 2x deer on consecutive Saturdays! Day hunting with my oldest friend on his family farm, right down the lane from our cottage where we ran around as kids.

1st deer ever was this little 4pt, shot just before legal dark. My buddy spotted him from his position, and was nice enough to sneak over to me, take me back to his spot and let me choose whether or not to take him.
There was no way I was going to pass on him! He paced it off the next day at 145m, 150grain .308 Core Lock out of my new Rem700 16.5" shorty, 1x shot and he just sat down and went to sleep.

Not good pics, but that's him alive and during the hard part of it!

Then last night, same location, we setup and this guy walked into the field at about 4:45pm. I was looking in the other direction and didn't see him break the treeline, then turned my head and it was like he had materialized out of thin air in the middle of the field, 150m in front of my buddies position. The agreement was he shoots first on a buck, and I only shoot if I know he can't get him. So for 45 heart pounding seconds I sit with my crosshair on him as he comes in closer and closer.

Finally a shot rings out, but deer doesn't budge, another shot...still nothing...after 4x shots and a pause, I took that as a sign that I had the green light. But he had started away through the field on a bad angle, and I had no shot.

Held on him hoping for a chance, and sure enough, he stopped and turned back for a last look, presenting me with a nice broadside view. Squeezed 1x off and it felt really good, but he jumped up and turned about 180 degrees then took off across the field away from me.
I held my breath dreading the idea of having made a poor shot and having to track the poor fella...when finally after covering about 200m running I see him go crashing down, thank god!

We wait 15min, go up and it turns out the shot was decent, shredded a lung.

Something magical about hunting on a 125+ year old farm, with my oldest friend, taking my first deer. We used the tractor to pick him up, and cleaned him in the barn, just felt so right.

You know you've got a good buddy when he misses his buck, on his own land, you get to shoot it, and he's still happy for you! Memory of a lifetime for sure...BBQed a tenderloin at 9:00pm to celebrate.
Thanks for reading, I'm hooked!

well i hunt 55b with mostly family but have a few friends. we started the week off with 3 of us in camp and fill all 3 tuesday morning (nov 5) button buck, spike and a 7 pointer. thursday night by brother and dad arrived. friday moring my brother got his first ever deer at 19 years old. very nice size doe and also had another spike taken on the chase.

friday evening a friend arrived so we went out saturday morning and i took this nice 8 point

saturday even another friend arrived so we went back at it sunday morning. this friend has not hunted in over 10 years let alone with a rifle. well after getting myself turned around on a familiar chase to me i realized is was just about the watchers. 4 shots went off and he took a 4 point.

we hunted the second week but it was alot tougher hunting and seen another spike and lots of does. we only managed to draw 2 antlerless tags this year. but here is sunday at lunch time middle of the 2 week hunt.

I got out a few more times to Huntsville on Mauser Gdog's uncles old property. My XCR did her job again. :D This was a strictly meat hunt for us her. First 2 pics are the doe I shot last night.

And the buck and doe I shot on Thursday night with the XCR

Pretty cold and miserable on Sat (Nov. 16) but my son and some friends came up to hunt deer with me so we went out. I sent my son and his non-hunting friend from Trinidad to my best new spot. They saw 7 deer in the first hour and my sone shot a buck and a doe. The fellow from the Caribbean thinks deer hunting is a little cold but pretty easy. He loved the excitement and the emotion of hunting and he wants to go through the training and take up hunting.

The buck may not be a "trophy" but the smiles on these young hunters faces is priceless.

How you guys getting all these multiple deer? I can only get 1 tag... do people just hand you their tags?

That's illegal. You cannot transfer tags or possess one which is not issued in your name. You can make use of the additional deer seal system in Ontario, but it means having multiple locations to hunt in different WMU's. We also party hunt and I tend to be the most enthusiastic of the groups I hunt with, as well as being a better deer hunter.

RFB two years in a row...

This was a morning running shot (x2). Bucky got spooked by a bear and went into full speed evasion mode. Unfortunately not as fast as a .30 caliber bullet. Perfect 10 point, 215 lbs before being dressed out for butcher.

I took a 10 point opening morning, then a 5 point and a doe today. Also lucky enough to guide/mentor a 16 year old and a woman who's hunted with me for a couple years. They both took 6 point bucks from my stand.

How were you able to take 3 animals by yourself ?
How do you get that many tags ?

Nice work! Give the guy from trinidad some cubes of meat to stew in curry, and ask him to make roti to go with it. You won't be sorry.

Gentlemen,

Leave the centre of the universe.!!

Come to AB where each hunter gets one general tag (buck or doe) and two supplemental antler less tags. Gives me and my wife 6 whitetails. Then the spring and fall bear or the general elk or general mule if you are willing to travel. Or bison, if you are REALLY willing to travel. Add in draws...

I will NEVER leave this province!!

Notice the lack of pics from Sask.

Two solid days of hunting and I had to take the day off ( besides its Western Finals ). My observed tally is numerous does and fawns, a handful of young bucks and one that might stretch the tape to 130 inches.

All of my hunting partners are having similar results. The big boys are either not out there in any significant numbers or still in hiding.

Hitting it again tomorrow.
